i mentioned Coady,

reason i did was i was trying to make the point That Gerrard will probably have another few years in him yet and it could be a player from the academy that will come through and step up and be captain ,i used Coady as he has been captain so has experience, also he has captained England U17s and is a local lad.

But he hasn't even made his debut yet, it's just impossible for him to be captain in a couple of years. Like i said, Gerrard probably has only one good season left in him, by then, it would be way to early to even consider Coady. Besides there are more experienced players ahead of him. Henderson hopefully would be a solid player by then, he's got that winning mentality and captained the under 21's, a much more likely candidate imo.

We need a new vice captain and that's Lucas for me, we may then have the opportunity to see how he does, with Suarez being given the armband recently he may get the nod though.

Johnson. End of. Should be made vc at the end of the season when Carra retires.

Henderson? FFS, I've been his biggest supporter on here for the last year, but let him establish himself in the first team, eh? Wisdom? Maybe in six years. Suarez? he rants at everyone when they don't pass to him (especially the younger players). Agger - yes... but. How many games a season do we generally get out of him? (same as Lucas).

Got to be Johnson, our most consistent performer (and England's) for the last year. Just because he doesn't get the notices in the press (and that's got more to do with his unequivical support for Suarez) means he's often underestimated, but we shouldn't do that. Our best attacking defender since lawler, and an intelligent, educated bloke who'll be able to represent the club in the media to boot.

Why is there no poll <doh>

Lucas for me, young enough to be captain for next 5+ years. Good example to young players that even after a tricky start you can turn things around and be a vital player in the team. Seems an intelligent guy and never gets into any trouble. Perfect role model I think

Based on the crazy figures that Santos will demand for him too <doh>

Fair enough. I know I mention him a lot but I hope posters don't think I'm being realistic, it is clearly tongue in cheek. I wouldn't want to see us spend the crazy amounts quoted, I do keep saying we will get him.on a free too <laugh>

However, nor would I write him off after one international friendly game where he was sorounded by the Brazilian reserves having travelled a long bloody way too!

I haven't written him off, no doubt he has mad talent! But again, his price tag would be crazy!

I know you're joking btw - whether other posters do or not I don't know. Knowing HIAG if he reads it will probably believe you! <doh>

RE the reserves comment - a bit harsh don't you think? Can hardly say reserve players.

I don't know a great deal about the Brazilian side TBH, I said reserves because thats what the commentator and media have claimed. Can't see Ronaldinho being part of a best XI but I could be wrong.

Still very good players mind, and it wasn't the first choice England XI either

IMO, a CB should be captain. A defence needs leader and defenders are normally vocal rather than leading by example which I prefer.

IMO, Carragher as always been the better leader over Stevie.
