I started this at the beginning of the season more in hope than expectation, so I'd better finishe it. The target for promotion is 20 points from each batch of 10 matches. We just reached No 30 altohugh throughout Jan I was beginning to fear we were never going to get there. In the first 10 games we scored 22 points, target reached. In the second 10 we failed, only 19 collected but overall for the 20 games we were still on target with a total of 41. I said then that the next 10 were, on papaer, probably the hardest batch of the lot. That changed somewhat with the moving of the Leicester game to April but se have done well. In out last 10 games we scored 23 points, bringing our total to a magnificent 64. Definitely promotion points at this stage of the season. And what for the next 10? I think if all goes well we could be promoted by the end of these 10 with 6 game still to Bristol City. Home (Win) Brighton Home (win) Wolverhampton Away (Win) Middlesbrough Away (Draw) Derby Home (Win) Barnsley Home (Win) Sheffield Wed Away (Win) Peterboro Away (Draw) Blackburn Home (Win) Watford Away (Draw) That would give us 88 points. Yeah I know I'm being over optimistic but I have always been a KTFer. But even with a couple of losses there instead of draaws we will still be in a good place, and just scoring 20 form those ganmes leaves us om 84 with 6 games to play. How many points can we reasonable expect to have?
That's optimistic. Not saying we won't do that but I feel a loss coming at some point in these ten games.
Twenty points from the next ten games. By then Leicester and Hull will have fallen away and just have to worry about Watford.
4 teams gathered behind us. In 5 games time that will thin out to 2. Even then, I can't imagine 2 teams overtaking us. 5 wins and 2 draws from the next 10 gives us 81 points. That leaves 6 games to get 7 points which should see us promoted.
I did admit I've always been an optimist. lol But looking at the form other than our disasterous early away record (which I believe was our 'dip in form') there is nothing to suggest what I projected will be wildly out. 83 or 84 with 6 to play will do me. The others will take points off each other and lessen out chances of cocking it up.
Have to agree Snaggs I don't think your widely out. I'm also bringing myself around to seeing that the chasers won't hit enough form to catch us.
Steve, if you want to consistantly get 20 from every 10 games you MUST expect to win all your home games, that's the point and that's what we have been doing, more or less. That is why it is historically true that this kind of point taking gets a team promoted. No one else in this league is anywhere close to that rate of points.
