I think Welbeck is a real talent. OK he was not very good against Southampton at the beginning of the season but they had van Persie... Sturridge will come good now too and could create a good England partnership.

Bale is better than Rooney or Gerrard.

I really disagree on Welbeck. I just don't see what he offers at all. I regularly pay particular attention to him during matches and just don't see anything other than an "alright" player.

Didn't he score his first goal against us. From an offside position I think.

1. John Terry was and is massively over rated. Leaving aside the character - he is one of the main reasons England have been less than the sum of its parts over last ten years. He is and always was too slow to be an international centre back and resulted in us defending deeper than we should leaving too much space in the midfield for the opposition.

Also Rooney is overrated, poor penalty taker, and when he has been injured for a while he still makes England's starting 11....why?
Gareth Barry is also very overrated.
Also agree with Danny Welbeck is overrated.

I think the English manager is the best thing since sliced bread.
I think the England team play the best style of football in the world......
I think that Ronaldo, Messi and co are useless.........

Saints related....Guly is the best forward for Saints...and fox is the best defender............

(It's ok been practising me running....<laugh>)

Footballers shouldn`t have poncy hair-dos, or jewlery.
Football boots should be black.
Saints should play in proper stripes.

I think he is strong and quick so he can hold the ball up and can work the channels, I do think he struggles at times due to him being in and out of the side at united, a bit like Sturidge at Chelsea being moved wide. I guess we all see things differently, otherwise it would be boring.

Ps saintrichie123, I thought Barry had been playing quite well recently :O.

I can only think of one thing at the moment but it is one I have thought for years. You don't need to go and watch the football club you support to be a die hard fan.

Controversially I agree with just about everything everyone has said.

1. I love watching Germany play.
2. I think that anyone who says plastic should go sit in a coffeehouse with a copy of the BMW and frown at anyone listening to music that isn't on record.
3. I would have rather played for saints than won the lottery

That number 2 is great.

I wouldn't actually mind if we didn't go back to stripes, I see red and white stripes as a common football shirt. I would like us to go back to the sash as it's different and of course I like it. :p

My three:
1. Jose Mourinho will be the next Chelsea manager.
2. Lightening will strike twice and Man City will come storming back to win the PL title.
3. Pochettino will speak fluent English by the end of the season!

These are just predictions as opposed to out-and-out controversial statements?

General
The England strip should be changed to have a massive photograph of St David Beckham on it
Watford are doing absolutely nothing wrong with their controversial loan system and those moaning should take a long hard look at themselves

Southampton
I believe that Matthew le Tissier is fronting a company in the Channel Islands which sends illegal horse meat to our food processing companies.

Here's my three controversial opinions

1) Ronaldo is a better all-round footballer than Messi.

2) Gary Neville is the best pundit on TV currently.

and lastly a Saints-related one

3) I like the way Cortese runs our club.

I'm bored at the minute so let's all name 3 football related opinions you hold that you feel are controversial and against the normal view. Shall we say 2 general football opinions and 1 specifically saints related?

Mine are:

1. I find the Spanish national team and tika taka football in general very dull. There are some exceptions but in general I prefer fast counter attacking football like the German national team or Manchester United.
2. I think the 3rd best player in the world is Yaya Toure, behind Messi and Ronaldo obviously. He's the complete player he can do pretty much anything and play in pretty much every position.
3. (saints related) I actually really rated Dan Harding when he played for us and always favoured him over any of his competitors, although I'd take Shaw over him now.

This thread will surely cause a ruckus so lets keep it friendly and respectfully argue with each other <ok>.

Can't stand your view on number one. Answer me this, what happens when two counter attacking teams sit back and knock the ball away, only attacking when it's a counter attack? That would be dull. Two teams waiting to counter.

The way Spain, Barca and hopefully Saints in the making, play is quality, exciting football and I'd watch it anyday.

In your wonderful counter attacking football, what happens when you get possion deep in your own half and the other team don't close you down in your own half?

I strongly feel you suffer from the "English Disease"
