The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has changed his mind over the future of Frank Lampard and opened talks with the England midfielder over a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
It is in "The Daily Fail" though so i'm not sure if it's true... <ok>

It would be great news if true! he is a class player. Someone special on the international and club stage. His goal last night was pure class. He's a down to earth bloke. Loves Chelsea to the core and loves the fans. We really need to offer him a new deal. Not just because he is a Chelsea legend but some of his performances of late have been brilliant.

It's the fail so probably bollox.

But for me this is increasingly becoming a no brainer all round. It is clear Frank still has a lot to offer and will continue to be picked for England as long as he's playing regularly in a good league.

If he left and went to say America, that could scupper his chances of going to Brazil 2014 (which is the world cup to be involved in save for say a home tournament).

If he got at least a 1 year deal: -

The club get the fans back on side a bit more
    Helps to unite the club
Means we have a top experienced player to call on next season
Stops him going to a rival

Frank then keeps his chances of going to Brazil alive
Will be paid well to stay
Stays at a club where he is loved and clearly doesn't want to leave
Has a chance to compete for top honours still
A chance at 100 England caps
A chance to be our all time goal scorer (if he doesn't get there this year - which I think he will).

It looks to me as if Frank will get another year, which is a big plus for CFC. No doubt he and JT will be used differently, but still retain their status in the Club ,which is exactly as it should be. It's called "growing old gracefully" and means the older players can pass on their experience to the youngsters coming through. Every team needs youth and experience, and we have that now in spades.

There were quite a few newspapers reporting he was willing to take a pay cut a while back but as we all know newspapers are a law unto themselves. Really hope its true that he'll stay though as to let him go would be ridiculous.

It seemed crazy 2 months ago that we'd let him go, even more so now given his performances of late.
