Hmmmm! Last season you lot said that you were better than us because you finished further up the league. Ergo, as we are still ahead of you right now we must be better than you. Surely?

  2. That is a forceful argument, Bloo, and one I'd have to agree with.

Let us not misunderstand each other: I think you have a stronger squad than us, and you certainly are the richer club. You ought to be ahead of us in the EPL. However, I believe that we have the better manager. We certainly have the happier fans, and you won't hear too many boos ringing around the Lane, these days.

With our win, today, away against WBA, we are now only 1 point behind you in the table. In former times, it was Arsenal that we used to be chasing and looking to surpass, but we have now surpassed them, and it is they who are desperately chasing us. These days, it is CFC who we are looking to top, each season - which is the way it should be if we want to continue better ourselves. We need to be aiming high, not low. Why seek to compete with AFC or 'Pool? Been there, done that (now). Let's press on and chase-down you guys. We achieved it last season, taking advantage of the turmoil caused by your owner, and you are showing signs that you are susceptible to be overtaken this season, with the turmoil he has caused with the appointment of Coco.

To be honest HAIG I do not think there is much to split our two teams at the moment. I follow the progress of Spurs quite closely as my brother has been supporting them for 49 of his 54 years - I also have to confess to having been to WHL when we weren't playing there! I was dragged off to watch you beat Reykjavik 9-0 what seems like a million years ago.

My concern at the moment is that for a period of time were very definitely amongst the European elite - from the mid to back end of the 2000's, and a little beyond, we were at times a top 10 team and often top 5 imo. As for the CL win we paid our dues - we had done really well for a good number of seasons in a row and had had some crap luck going against us on many occasions. In recent times only the mighty MUFC have bettered us in the CL so I feel we did deserve something last season.

Right now, this season I do not know where we stand. We've gotten used to winning at the club and by christ we have won a lot this past 10 years or so. And whilst success comes or goes for teams it is disconcerting to be at a pivotal point where we could end up milling around at sub-CL level or really get back to our former glories.

What is painful is to watch as get beaten by teams that really ought to have been in the bag before kick-off. I can stand the odd defeat by you, the Manc's etc in a good either way scrap but jesus some of the teams that have beaten us this season is beyond belief.

However, whether we are on our way down or back up won't be decided this season (esp' if we stay in the CL) but we will know how things are likely to pan out in the next season or two once our old guard have made way for younger blood.

It's fun being a footie fan!

I wish you well this season if only to make my brother happier than he has been for for some time now - he stopped talking to me for a few months after the 19th May 2012 - seriously!
