Just watching a documentary on mike tyson, and the last thing i expected was for him to be a big fan of racing pigeons. Not just a fan but a real passion for it.

He has his own coop and loads of birds, and actually enters them into races.

Any one know of any footballers with strange or unexpected passtimes....
 
Albert Quixall (Sheffield Wenesday and Man. U.) used to take ballet lessons. Perhaps the most successful 'hobby' of all though was Colin Grainger, the Sunderland left-winger of the 1950s. After an England game, he was singing in the bath and Nat Lofthouse suggested he did some stage shows. He made good money out of singing after that - I saw him at the Sunderland Empire once.

Going on from Mike Tyson, Gene Tunney (world champion 1926-30) was an avid reader of Shakespeare. There was another world heavyweight champ who loved to photograph flowers, but I can't remember which one it was.
 
Every now and again, Ahmed Elmohamady tries his hand at this strange little thing called a 'cross'. It seems as if by passing the ball to the opposition constantly, you get extra points.

bloody hell mate where did you find this stuff?

have any footballers gone on too a sucessfull career after they finish, outside of the game?
 
probably doesnt count but Gordon Ramsey had trials with Rangers when he was younger, chef now obviously. Ally Mcoist, question of sport back in football now though.

I believe the Liverpool legend, Billy Liddell, was a chartered accountant by profession. But the biscuit just has to go to Alfredo Robledo, who got a cup-winners medal with Newcastle in 1952, returned to Chile, got elected to their Parliament and eventually became a cabinet minister!

At the other end of the scale, the great 'Dixie' Dean ended up a postman. Today, they'd pay him millions.
