Could and should have gained on Chelsea by 2 points. Can't be happy with a draw against Norwich and behind for so long. I just hope we get a win soon. I was concerned when we went one nil behind at home against Reading and we haven't improved much.

Podolski also dived for his penalty claim. The defender wasn't moving and was facing away from him, so he just ran into his back and went over. No media frenzy this morning, though.

Exactly. The same pundits and so-called journalists who go on about refs applying laws consistently completely fail to consistently criticise players for diving. Some players it's never mentioned even though they are serial gymnasts, and yet can you imagine the headlines if Bale had done that dive? And even the other night for Bale's wonder goal there were a few snide remarks about look how well he can do if he doesn't dive... and yet an equally logical explanation is that he doesn't go down unless he has to, like that penalty we didn't get when he was clattered into and images clearly showed contact, yet all these experts were going on about 'not enough contact to go down' (as if they'd ever run at Bale's pace, been hit, and tried to stay up).

There's an article in this month's WSC about the time in 1894 where Newton Heath took a newspaper to court for describing the tactics they employed in one match as outright thuggery.

    Not much has changed, then...
