I think most Spurs fans have been going on about our Striker situation for a long time now since the Keane, Berbatov times at least so it's not new. Bent, Pav, Defoe, Keane, Saha, Crouch, none have had the universal confidence of Spurs fans all have been thought to be below the standard required. Adebayor perhaps is the only one many of us thought be be of the right caliber and he could still return and provide the finish we need. although many have expressed lack of confidence in him as well.

As I said before if we do not find such a 'New Striker' then we are wasting the millions we have spent upgrading the rest of the team.

I'll be honest and say I was one of the people that was amazed Hudd was initially up for sale/ loan in the summer, even though I knew he wouldn't be first choice, he was a great player to have as an option. Now, I really can't wait to get rid of him, sounds bad but the effect he's having on the team when playing is woeful. Whatever has happened to his passing I'll never know but quite frankly, he's a shadow of the player he was and won't have much time this season to prove anyone wrong now we're out of both the FA and COC and I reckon Andre will play a full strength team vs Lyon as we'll need too.

Yeah it's really pissed me off at how the first team have completely disrespected the cups this season. Like you said, we've only rested about 2-3 first teamers in the these games and replaced them with a player usually of some sort of international standard/ premier league back ground quality, so to be watching - and I won't mince my words here - absolutely ****ing **** performances is a joke. I was intending to go to Leeds with a mate but he pulled out right before I went to apply for tickets so I decided against buying, I was gutted at the time and actually had a go at him, though it's fair to say he saved me a lot of money and time not travelling to watch the pile of crap that was on show yesterday and I should be thanking him. I was so appalled with the standard of play, the only positive about it is that we won't (or hopefully won't) have to watch any poor, lacklustre showings now.

when i said about getting rid of hudd, i meant earlier in this window. no one could have known he'd come back so poor, but it's happened now and we need to deal with it. It does make you wonder if AVB is secretly happy about this FA cup situation, as it means he's got an excuse to say to levy "well, we're only in 2 comps now. X,Y and Z aren't going to get games, so it's best you sell them before the end of the window!" then his plan might work! some of his own players!! We've ****ing desperate, wait for the panic buying! or Panic loans!<laugh>

I don't think that was excessive in the slightest. Our main problem then was that our midfield was lightweight. We've improved the midfield greatly, but now our forward line is lacking in options. In a crazy way I too hope that our current misfortune causes some transfer action. No disrespect to Obika but......<doh>

misfortune wont make a difference mate. we've needed a striker for 2 years to help us push on. we don't bother signing one, and then wonder why we just fall short? <doh>

Excuse the double post. Not sure what happened there!

the same problem everyone is having. website's buggered!

Haha like I said mate I'm not too sure if I was or wasn't (probably was to be honest <laugh>).

Fair to say now though that I was completely wrong if I did, we desperately need another striker. I'm now at a stage where I don't even care if we sign Holtby/ Moutinho/ Eriksson or any other midfielder, I'd just be delighted to hear an announcement of a new "number 9". Personally think we'll be committing suicide if we don't grab another finisher. Could be deja vu of last season if we're left with what we've got.

re your last sentence: i nearly put something similar earlier. Obviously it'll be a new set of circumstances (no 'Arry/england), but once again we fall apart!

Strict one up top 433 wasn't it, 'doesn't matter if the players I've got don't fit, thats how we're playing'....then its 'mm!, thats not so good, but I haven't got enough forwards for a planB involving 2'.

The basic planning for a season has been woeful...better not suggest who's fault that is though!

it can't be anyone but Levy's. the coach has tried to make his preferred option work, but at least he realised it was never going to and did something about it.

Someone needs to tell Levy in clear terms that we have to spend on a new striker of top quality, but i'ts a big call for a new coach trying to consildate his position at the club. Spend 20 million and get it wrong and your job is on the line.

Don't know about everyone else but I think if we get Holtby in we should send Sigurdsson out on loan, it's just not working for him with us this season.

Yeah agreed. It's tough but then Levy made a big risk on sacking Harry and bringing in AVB. Now's the time for him to actually back his new manager, all managers under Levy's regime has had a solid financial backing and AVB deserves the same treatment. Every Spurs fan around the country can see there's a huge need for a good/ top striker and I think Levy will be stupid if he dismisses it.

completely. and a young creative player such as Belhanda to come and sit in the wings would be nice.

Yeah agree, I'd sell him in the Summer too. He hasn't had much competition for a place and yet still seems down in the pecking order, with Holtby and hopefully a new striker coming in, his game time will be extremely limited and he'll just be another high earner sitting on the bench or even out of the squad, ala Bentley, Jenas, Gomes etc.

it's true, we do need to get that top striker, and it is likely to cost that. But AVB doesn't need to worry about saying something like that. - Levy makes all the ****ing decisions over the players we sign anyway. so it'll be levy's fault if we get the wrong person! AVB can just say "i said we needed top quality, it's your fault for not listening to me and wasting 20mill!" <laugh>

And get sacked in the process <laugh>

Goal now reporting Holtby fee is FINALLY agreed!

They've been fairly decent with info lately, far better than any other media outlet and ITK in my opinion. Here's hoping Holtby's done by today/ tomorrow.

If Levy is making decisions on who we should sign then that is a fundamental flaw. Deciding how much should be spent and when fine but the who has to be left to the football people. Harry I think suggested that he was asked before transfers took place so it would appear not to be the case.

We've realised that AVB appears to have expensive taste, but there's no way he's chosen Clint Dempsey or Sigurdsson, to name 2. The former is not a player he'd go for, IMO. just doesn't fit AVB's mould.

Looks like that for sure, so who made those decisions?

Only the Fail but....

Lewis Holtby is heading to White Hart Lane in the next 24 hours after Tottenham finally agreed a deal to sign him now, rather than at the end of the season.

The Germany midfielder is flying over to London to complete the deal, after Tottenham gave way over Schalke’s £1.5million asking price and also agreed to play a money-spinning friendly with the Bundesliga club at a date to be announced later this year.

it'll be now. yeah, it's all sorted. The "twit" confirmed yesterday that it was sorted yesterday and would be announced today. - He was right.

Or lucky. Media were reporting yesterday that Heldt was supposedly in London to finalise it.

Dempsey a definite no, that was a panic buy due to not getting Moutinho. Sig though I'm not sure. Sig mentioned that he did have a chat with AVB prior to signing, so it'd suggest that even if he wasn't a primary target ala Moutinho/ Willian, AVB may still have wanted him.
