I agree with those saying we need another winger, even if Punch signs a new contract.

We've been ok without Lallana but we have lacked a cutting edge against Villa and Everton for example, when we have been well on top and failed to score (not counting the fortunate penalty), and if Puncheon were to get injured now we would start to look very short in wide areas.

Can't remember hearing any convincing rumours about wingers though. Any ideas?

We may go down the loan route if we're not finding the right players at the right price in the often sellers January market.
Falque never came to nothing but he was a in case of emergency break glass signing.
From my limited knowledge of the top teams perhaps Larnel Cole or even Nick Powell from Man U maybe available

Especially if we're going to press...that means a hell of a lot of running for the forward players, especially the wings given their defensive duties.

As for ideas, I'm curious what Nathan Redmond's price tag would be as we approach the deadline, given Birmingham's financial woes and the fact that he isn't having the greatest of seasons. Birmingham reportedly wanted 6m for him earlier in the window, but that might decline if they don't get any nibbles, as they desperately need to sell. Not a player who'd likely force his way in at the moment, but he's one for the future, and a player whose pace would be useful in the second half of games.

Given Brum now apparently asking for only £3.5m for Jack Butland, I'd imagine their asking price might be about that.

I'd still like Phillips/Ince.

I'm not convince that Phillips is better than what we have, I also think the arrival of Pochettino would probably put a stop to that in the short term, I doubt he's watched much of the Championship.

Ince is either going to Liverpool or staying put for the time being.

I still think in all likelihood we will move for someone in Spain, although to be honest I don't have a clue who. I haven't watched a huge amount of La Liga in the last year or so,

Whats the deal with a contract for Boruc, scared if he plays really well then jumps ship because another team flashes the cash, coke, cigs, vodka and Levis jeans

As we all know there are some good players in the Championship who could improve our team/squad but fear that with our new management team will not have the knowledge of and purely concentrate on highly priced South American/Spanish/Italian's.
Our ability to convert our interest/bid into the player joining us seems very poor with negotiations appearing to be complex and a lot of games being player whereas an enquiry for Redmond for example from Birmingham which you would expect to conclude within a couple of days

Thinkning we need to bring some in to bolster the squad up. We do lack quality and impact from the bench which needs to be addressed. Lambert and Gaston had a massive impact when coming from the bench against Chelsea but when they play I can't see anyone that could come anywhere near the impact they had.

The apparent difficulties we have in signings is because we aim high. Now it is possible that we could miss out on lower league gems (Rickie is a shining example), but we have to be certain before such a move. Can we risk giving a contract to someone who won't cut it (we have a few we need to shift already in the squad). I think we are most likely to take risks at academy level, where British players are more likely to be taken on and trained into our style. I think at the moment, especially with a foreign coach, we will be more likely to sign experienced cheaper players from abroad, but will then see more British players as the Academy lads step up.

FLT. Fully agree!
But land at £3mish would be rude to say no!
Borac on a short term contract, Super Kelvin coming to the end of his career and Gazza still very raw and in need of a loan move to a Championshipclub to get experience, we need someone to come in and make the shirt his

Boruc has been superb! Sign him on a longer contract.

Agree with both. Let's have Boruc, Gazza and Butland.
