Does anyone have footage of half the Chav bench including Terry sticking their noses in just prior to the ref producing his red? Perhaps all of them should have been given reds and sent to the stands.
You're right, i'm guessing its for that exact reason that video evidence is never used in court. Oh, hang on..... This is so ridiculous now that i can't be arsed. He was in the wrong, end of, if that was a Spurs player i would be embarrassed not defending the chap. Each to their own i guess, defend your scumbag
We will just have to agree to disgaree, but I do see where you are coming from slightly. My last comment was not just a reaction based on last night. It's also the Rooney ban for swearing, the Arsenal v City linesman dropped for his comments and the Ashley Williams condemnation for kicking the ball at RVP. The one man that convieniently escapes all criticism is Foy. There were numerous attempts to timewaste by Swansea ballboys none of which were even challenged by the referee. Hazard (wrongly) took the law into his own hands. This is the problem we have which has been pushed through by the Tories, we assess "crime" not "criminality", the effects not the causes of peoples actions.
Yes I know he was in the wrong but you have to see the funny side of it - Chelsea moaning about time wasting. Funnier still was Pat Nevin on telly this morning going apoplectic about the "disgraceful" ball boy. Said he was faking it - oh dear someone at a football ground other than a player pretending to be half dead after a relatively minor kick - no doubt he will be signed as a professional soon. Nevin could not see that maybe Hazard should not actually kick someone who is on the ground - even if he was being annoying
Sorry Spurs61, we had a discussion on the ballboy/Hazard incident going already so I've merged your thread
The press are trying to use the same tactics they used on Beckham after the 98 WC, Ronaldo after the 2006 WC and Suarez more recently. Chelsea have a lot of work to do.
The ballboy was disgraceful, not for feigning injury, but for stopping the game - he is there for the exact opposite. More might come out about whether he was given instructions to do just that (although I would guess not quite so obviously). The red card (and 3 game ban for violent conduct) are the right punishment for this. I wouldn't personally go any further as the situation was caused by the ball boy and Hazard overreacted.
DL, are you sure you want to draw parallels with the Cantona incident? 9 month ban from football, prosecution and a prison sentence (although overturned on appeal). Is that what Hazard deserves?
Thanks - serves me right for not looking at rival watch first - could not believe it had not been discussed
Its all rather ironic and laughable as what do most fans say "players play act" "if theres contact he has a right to go down or fake it" "he went for the ball" So in this case, Hazard went for the ball...but contact was made with the ball boy, so the ballboy had a right to go down...if you look at the video, the ballboy pretends he is winded, yet after a matter of seconds turns around and starts appealing as the players have moved away from the incident! Thankfully the boys father didn't ask to press charges, as if that was my son, he would be told "if you go around winding people up and acting like an immature moron then what do you expect?" as any kick to the boys ribs was very slight and an accident, and a result of A) the balboy winding hazard up & B) hazard responding and not thinking straight.
The issue is your moral indignation of Chelsea players given the actions of those that have donned your club crest
His body is in the way of the ball. Hazard has to lean over the other side of the lad to pick up the ball. He's nowhere near the damned ball when he kicks the boy.
So, a bit like Sunday's penalty incident, whether he kicked the ball boy or not depends on which angle you see it from. I have to say though, impressive roll and feign of injury by the little ****. He'd fit in perfectly here in La Liga.
not concrete but very likely, can't see how it'd merit the reaction he gave though! it is, just before he kicks it you can see him rolling slightly on a little white bit - that is the ball fella.
