Also it's natural that if you have been dropped you are going to fell less disposed to your manager than if you were playing every week.

Perhaps as fans who have experienced good times and the bad times, mainly the latter we clutch onto any positive and feel good feelings that come - getting promoted feels pretty damn good, as we have a very emotional feeling towards the club.

I do wonder in a positive way as to what Nicola motives are, I believe he wants the best for the club but is it for the fans, or Nicola. Difficult one that call.

I would like to believe in conspiracy theory that people are trying to taint Nigel, but whatever his failings were behind the scenes and I'm not convinced there were, I still love the guy

I actually though Steve De Ridder's dad summed it up well on Twitter.

Dirk De Ridder on Twitter:

"No opinion today because every 'divorce' makes victims and is never the right time ..."

"its happened now, you cant return the clock, important is that the 'kids' dont suffer damage like in every divorce in real life .."

very offensive that fedstripe said NC is a liar, he may be several things but I believe he has never lied to the club, players or fans

Now I generally try to be level headed when posting on here. But at the moment I dont think I can honestly say I want cortese to stay anymore. Yes he saved the club and for that I will be forever grateful.
It just feels as if hes ripped the soul out of the club. The treatment of legends like tiss and lawrie mac the disgraceful treatment of NA. Getting rid of hardworking programme sellers who had been at the club for years and many of the fans had a relationship with. I know from first hand accounts he is extremely short tempered rash and arrogant.

All in all hes fine for a big corporate business and that's great. But for me a football club will never be just a business. Yes it needs to be solvent and I thank him for the work in that regard. However a football club used to be more, be about the community be about the people and legends at the club. Something we the fans thought we could be part of not just 'customers'.

With Cortese in charge I don't feel we will ever have a club like that again and that makes me so sad. Of course I expect a barrage of hate from everyone for saying this but this isn't just a rash judgement. I've felt at ill ease with the propaganda and corporate feel of the club for a while now.

Having said that perhaps I'm being to idealistic and maybe sadly that type of club just doesn't exist anymore beyond the non league all I know is I feel as if the club is a lot less like that than it used to be.

Agree with some of this but we just have to accept that football at the top level is now a business. If we want Saints to be at the top and I do then I think we have to accept harsh decsions are sometimes necessary.

Agreed Lamb. The one consistent thing that Cortese has done ever since the takeover is to continually improve the club. The training ground, the work through the Saints Foundation, financial backing to fund our rise to the Premier League, and 2, hopefully 3 first class managers to coach the first team. People can believe all the rumours they want about Cortese's character, personally I don't know if I'd like the guy if I met him but I would have to say he has done nothing but good for our club, and so far has made very few mistakes. We are on the soundest financial footing we have ever been in, and many Premier league clubs would envy our bank balance and wage structure. The last time we were in the top flight we spent most of those 27 years struggling to avoid the drop, and Cortese is trying to put a structure in place where not only are we safe from relegation but pushing for trophies and European competition. To do this he needs to have the best management structure he can find, and in his opinion, Nigel Adkins wasn't ready for that next stage. Rightly or wrongly, that decision has been made, and Nigel has left the building with, no doubt, a handsome pay-off and a first-rate CV.

Our job as supporters is to get behind the team and the new manager and whatever we think of the CEO, at least acknowledge that he is acting in what he sees as the best interests of the club.

I'd forgotten about the programe sellers. Always got mine from the bearded white haired guy at the Chapel end, now he's been kicked into touch and I have to go searching around inside the ground.

Think Chilco puts it well feel. I sorry for anyone losing their job but programme wise it's only a matter of time until it's all on line anyway.

Okay, so the programme sellers are gone for ever, swept aside in the relentless march of progress. But can we have our Red n White stripes back please? With black shorts? To Cortese, I expect worrying about the kit is emotive nonsense, especially if the new one sells well in Asia. Not sure I'm fit for this Brave New World myself though.

That's how I felt at 12pm on Friday. But I've got over it. I still don't agree with Nigel's sacking but I am also intrigued by Pochettino and am looking forward to seeing his tactics and the signings he makes. As the programme sellers, I think that was inevitable for a while now.

It's not the getting rid of them perse which I thought was disgracefull. Its the air of arrogance of the decision that these traditions aren't important and they can be swept aside ruthlessly. If I remeber correctly they were barely given a thank you for all their work and just told to not come any more. Theres a way to do these things and I could stomach it if it were done in a way which showed cortese cared but just felt it had to be done. I know he wants what's best for the club I just feel hes massivley out of touch with the fans and tradition of what it means to be a football club. The kit is another example to a businessman waht does some colours mean. But to me going to the football is wrapped up in seing my team play in red and white stripes and seeing it brings back memories of all the past matches. Again it seems he just makes decisions based on money.
