Ive never seen a more empty arena, its like theyve given Fulham the whole ground, the stadiums arent even 10% full. Even the hosts game wasnt sold out.

Lol, I thought exactly the same thing when I tuned in earlier. ( and subsequently quickly tuned out.) A Micky Mouse tournament if I ever saw one.

Plus theres been 4 games, 2 0-0s, one was 0-0 until the 86th min and the other game was a draw. Its been very poor too, Ill watch it on FF until the knock out stages.

Diakite came on with just over 10 minutes to go, and looked sharper and quicker than anyone else on the pitch. Made some very strong runs, and he won the ball for the winger who crossed for Mali's winning goal.

The current game featuring Nigeria and some team I've never heard of looks like it's got 0-0 written all over it. The pitch is like a sponge with the ball bouncing 20 ft up in the air when it's not played on the ground - awful pitch.

94th minute - Nigeria have an attack and choose to shoot instead of go towards the corner flag, then a few seconds later the other team go up the other end and level.

    Hi
I've been covering/following African and Asian international football since 1996 in various roles author/statto/researcher blah blah blah... The country in question is Burkina Faso. Just recalled the only time I saw packed stadiums at a AFCON Tmt was is 1998 when Burkina Faso were hosts...tkt prices are high people can't afford it, but take it from me the Tmt is huge in Africa even if it is not supported well in the stadiums.
Always like watching the minnow teams, like Ethiopia , they haven't qualified since 1958 and drew 1-1 with Champions Zambia today. & were down to 10 men for most of the game.

Nigeria were poor considering the opposition. Very much a team in transition still.

Nigeria have been poor for quite awhile now. A lot of so called big name players that can't seem to play as a team...kind of like our boys at the start of the season :)

It will always be seen as a Mickey Mouse tournament if stadiums arent even 10% full. Its a shame as I liked watching the African teams in the world cup but the ACON is a very low standard.

Agree to a degree but Micky Mouse is a bit harsh .... Maybe true for recent tournaments say from 2006 onwards but in my opinion it was a Tmt which brought a lot of attention of African players to the big leagues. In today's age of scouting and picking up players at a young age it seems as if the players haven't the passion to perform at the Tmt as they already have a club paying them well...if you see what mean...

To be fair the standard this year hasn't been good. SA were shockingly poor and Nigeria just doesn't have the great players of the past like Okocha, Kanu and Yekini. Good to see Cabo Verde, Ehiopia and Cabo Verde get draws.

Balance of power seems to be changing with Cameroon and Senegal a shadow of what they once were.
