Never one to count his chickens but if we do get to the promised land do we think Malky (who i've got tremendous respect for) would be able to keep us there, further to that would the Malaysians consider his job completed and go for someone else.
Purely hypothetical I know but would be interested to know what others think. For me I think he would do ok, the only worrying aspect I think would be in his ability to bring in maybe continental players, how many of Laudrups signings say would be tempted by a relatively unknown manager.

I can't see Malky going anywhere but he would need substantial funds to strengthen the squad to keep us in the Prem - assuming we get there of course.

While our squad appears good enough for us to lead the Championship it would be a major step up to compete successfully at the highest level.
 
I believe MM can make the step up and as BFB says significant investment in the squad will be needed. We have players for the future currently playing regularly and some on the sidelines. I am not sure what is happeneing with the likes of Velonikja or Harris. Harris has the luxury of youth but for how long before we can expect him get regular 1st team football? Not sure if Velonikja will make the grade at 24 he shoud be getting a regular place in the match day squad.
Gestede doesn't appear to have the potential to step up. These are obviously my opinions based of distance viewing.

If we keep going the same way and win the league with many points to spare, Malky's name will be known all over Europe and beyond.

Add to that a new stadium, state of the art training facilaties and the like.

But what will get them is £££££££.
 
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves Sussex. We should enjoy the rest of this season first.
Then we can enjoy all the player speculation in the summer.
Following that we will live in hope of winning 12 games to stay up.
Onwards and upwards, hopefully.
 
A good question even though there is a long way to go this season yet.

I think MM would be good enough to keep us in the Premiership. I also think the Malaysians are more honourable than most foreign owners and would stick with him even if things got tough. Finally, MM has talked about his vision for the club and will see himself as on the first couple steps of a journey. Last year was about laying the foundations, this year about getting out of this division. The investment in youth suggests a long term plan.

As for the playing staff, a large percentage of this squad would be at least squad players in the Premiership with major strengthening required up front (bye bye Rudy and HH though Eti may be more suited to that division than this), a couple more defenders (which we could do with now) and some cover in the centre of the park.

If we go up, I'm sure there will be further loosening of the purse strings by Tan.
 
I reckon we can afford to drop 14 points from the remaining games. I don't like targets but how about 40 from the last 54?

Ummm...... :emoticon-0138-think:emoticon-0138-think...................what would that give us?
