For me Jimmy Hill ruined football not by his cheating conniving ways but, his banning of the wage cap for players which opened up the floodgates and is the reason we have certain players on more in a week than some people earn in 10 years. That is his legacy and that is what will be the undoing of football, nothing against the lads earning a decent wage far from it but a cap has to be looked at now before we see teams going to the wall every season.
Unfortunately I`m easily old enough to remember and I still hate the pointy-chinned cheating t**t with a vengeance!
He could have a face lift, and Mcalpine have shown an interest!. He Played for Fulham i think, was a linesman then went to Coventry. Getting that game put back half an hour was bad enough, then going 2-0 up meant we were safe even if we lost at Everton (which we did)but they let Bristol c come back to 2-2, who with that point were safe, and Chinny was giving our score over the tannoy, then he and the Bristol c manager had champaigne afterwards. I only wish we had getting a draw and would have liked to have seen his face. 20 years later They also got the Spurs match put back half an hour !, won that and we went down again.
I cry everytime I hear the twats name, still remember standing there waiting for thier result to be announced. Bastard.
How the chinless bastards at the League and FA let him get away with it I'll never know. Utter cnut...
He started it, but only a few players made massive gains at the time. Players wages mostly doubled up to about 50quid pw. The ruinisation of football was mightily compounded by Sky riches who connived to start the Premier league so they could drop negotiations with the FA; followed by the EU employment ruling in the Bosman case. At the time of the Bosman case footballers were described as slaves.
There's a few I dislike. Newcastle, obviously. Coventry, for the same reasons. Crystal twatting Palace cos Selhurst ****ing Park is a **** hole of a ground that the northern league would have problems with. Boro cos their fans were a bunch of ****s back in the 80's. Millwall when at the old Den on the Dogs cos their fans were the scum of the earth.
