you say a striker, but why would they come to a side with a real chance of playing championship football next season!
we were that poor today, you couldn't blame them if they turned us down.

One game doesn't make a season. We're still in a decent position and any prospective signing will feel they can make a difference.

Only an idiot would make a major career decision on the basis of one football match.

Well for starters Holt has probably 1 or 2 seasons left in him at PL-level. We have no preferred 2nd choice striker, therefore the incoming signing would have the opportunity not only to save us from relegation, but also cement his place as the future striker of our club. Secondly, we have a very good team which if let loose in the Championship would have an absolute field-day.

On that basis Remy would not have gone to QPR!

I understand your frustration because this is a bad run of form and we had been thrashed one too many times this season before today. But there is no reason why it should make any difference to any player's opinion on the club. If anything it'll mean they can walk straight into the starting XI, and have a place to lose, not to win, from day one.

To be fair though Thai, we can't offer £70-100k a week and that does make a difference !

simple - he's gone there for the money, they can pay bigger wages. No doubt he got a relegation get out clause

I will not argue that he has gone there for the money, but it's probably only for 5 months and I will bet there is a clause that releases him from his contract if they do go down. Hardly seems worth it in the long run.
