Just for fun, who's the worst player we can remember in a Saints shirt post-relegation. Looking at the squad that got knocked out of the FA cup by Bristol Rovers, there are plenty of contenders, but i'm going to open the debate with one Vincent Pericard...

Pericard was pretty pointless indeed, but he didn't play a lot for us and I think he's been alright elsewhere. I'll leave out Pulis and Forecast as well, as we never actually saw them play. Of all the players we actually had to use during that difficult period, I didn't like Jermaine Wright or Ryan Smith very much.

Jermaine Wright and Ryan Smith are good shouts (though I fear too many mentions of Ryan Smith's name will send st brendy into shock). Darren Powell was pretty terrible.

    Plenty to choose from mind, my top three;

    Jace Euell
    Jerm Wright
Honorary mention Mr Antony Pulis - the legend lives - he didn't play enough, he might have been great! <laugh>

Steve "the headless chicken" De Ridder.

An indication of how far our club has fallen and the poor standard of player we expect to see is exemplified by the fact some of our fans actually think he is good.

I think you're right there! He just looked clueless on the few occasions he played.

Surely this thread should be about players that played quite a few games in that time, or were considered real "first teamers". The likes of Pulis and Forecast were never really part of it.

Jermaine Wright used to do my head in. I remember the Hull City nil nil draw and he was appalling. Later that evening I saw him out drinking with George Burley and thought "ah, that's why he plays"

Ryan Smith was very, very poor. Mario Licka anyone?

There's far worse than Steve De Ridder ... at least he has actually contributed to something good - unlike a lot of other piss poor players.

De Ridder for me. On Saturday he had the ball in space and Rodriguez was making a great run down the left and he was in acres and what did De Ridder do? He kept the ball and ran straight into a defender. <doh> <doh> <doh>

Zoltan Liptak? Stephen O'halloran. Looking back at some of the carp we have signed over the years, it's hardly surprising we ended up on the verge of liquidation. I would say my top 3 are as follows,

    Vincent Pericard
    Darren Powell
    and arguably Dave Mcgoldrick.

Oliver Lancashire, Pele and does anyone remember Jordan Robertson? Didnt he score that wonder goal and get locked up for a crash on the motorway? But mine has to be Jermaine Wright.

Forgot about Lancashire and Pele. Didn't Pele cost us a goal V Derby in the play offs? How about Tomas Pekhart anyone?
