Ye but my point still stands.

Shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket.

Try and have a set number of players ad then of one collapses at least you're ahead with talks on the other ones.

Having said that, like NA said, keep your cards close to your chest ;)
If what we said had any bearing on the transfers, sure, but come on, what's wrong with being excited by a link with a player we have actually heard of?

It doesn't mean the club isn't looking at anyone else just because we're not talking about them.

Matt Targett has been in great form for the under-21's at Southampton this season and is reportedly a transfer target for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Could they convince him to come to The Emirates?
Southampton FC have been getting pretty used to seeing their star protégés moving on to North London. When times were different and money was in short supply on the South Coast it became a necessity to sell their burgeoning hot prospects in order to keep the books balanced; in fact it was essential to keep the club afloat.
At least that was the case with the two most successful Southampton graduates. Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott were moved on to Tottenham and Arsenal respectively for fairly large nominal fees even if much of the cash was to spread out over a number of years (a decision that backfired in Gareth Bale’s case).

Then even when the club was in a slightly more stable financial position they still had to consider the long-term success of the club; in particular after the passing of the clubs saviour Markus Liebherr. Therefore an offer a year on of £12 million rising to £15 million for future England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was impossible to turn down.
So when Arsenal reportedly started sniffing around at promising left-back Luke Shaw you could understand any trepidation that Saints fans may have had about his imminent departure; he surely would have impressed in the 1-1 draw with The Gunners at St Marys where he was arguably Southampton’s best player.
Yet that now seems to be scrubbed away after Shaw agreed a new long-term contract with Nigel Adkins side that will put an end to the speculation for now. But according to some sources Arsenal will not look far for a replacement target; quite literally Targett because the player in mind is Southampton teenager Matt Targett.
The 17-year-old has been in scintillating form in the under-21 league and has caught the attention of Arsenal scouts with his technical ability. Considered a long-term back-up for Shaw in the Southampton first-team it appears Arsenal may convince him that his future lies away from the Solent.

SOD OFF WNGER!

Don't get excited about rumours linking our club (which was a L1 club just two years ago) with internationals and players we know to be class?

I don't get why we can't...

Targett is a Southampton lad born and breed, hopefully he will have sense to ignore the rumours.

When the time comes, would you like to look away at another thread and I will quietly close the thread down with dignity.
It's the kindest thing.

Or alternatively, we can hook it up to life support, but there comes a point where you have been trying CPR for so long that its just time to stop.

Just say the word.:(
