QPR boss Harry Redknapp reckons his former club Tottenham have enough quality to field two sides capable of challenging at the top of the Premier League.

Redknapp welcomes the club that sacked him at the end of last season to Loftus Road on Saturday and has watched his successor, Andre Villas-Boas, guide them to third in the table.

Survival, by contrast, is the challenge at Loftus Road and Redknapp knows the league's bottom-placed side face a tough task to make his the game a memorable reunion for him.

"Spurs could field two teams who could compete in the Premier League," he told the Evening Standard.

"They have a second team who would hold their own at the top level without any problem. For a start, they have five top-class centre-backs.

"They can afford to let Danny Rose go to Sunderland on loan because they have people like Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker in the squad. They have loads of top-class midfielders.

"They're full of quality everywhere. It's a similar group to the one I left but then Mousa Dembele has gone in and done well. They have an outstanding group of players, no doubt about that."

Redknapp had guided Spurs to their second fourth-placed finish in three campaigns before he was dismissed, but denies any ill-feeling towards his former employers.

"It will be strange but time moves on and I have no bad feelings towards Tottenham," he added.

"I don't live my life like that. I had a great time there, I loved the fans and they were great to me.

"Not many people walk away from a club as popular as I was at that time. Normally when you leave a football club, you go out with the fans shouting for you to go but I never had that. The people treated me absolutely brilliantly."

Weird how he says that but played the same 11 every week unless they were injured or suspended. The man really does love mind games <laugh>

We probably could've done so last season, but Harry was adamant at playing the same team every week...

    :D

Good to hear him speak of the club and fans fondly. I don't think there's any Spurs fans who wouldn't be happy to see him go on to do well, I certainly hope he keeps QPR up and gets the England job at somepoint. He's a likeable guy and definitely deserves the next crack at the England job once Hodgson's "Operation Snoozeball" is discontinued.

Agreed, and whatever you feel about him, we were a better club after he left than before he joined. Obviously that is not only down to him, but he could have screwed it up.

He's got a point to be fair.

    A second XI of:
    Friedel,
    Naughton, Dawson, Caulker, Gallas/ Fryers
    Falque, Parker, Huddlestone/ Livermore, Townsend
    Sig
    Adebayor/ Dempsey

Would definitely hold it's own in the Premier League.

Echoing what YV said I hope he keeps QPR up and has a successful spell with them, he's a fantastic manager and really does deserve a crack at the England job at some point.

  8. Glad he's gone. I haven't missed his usual load of bollocks to the press one single bit <ok>

I've got to say, that my attitude towards AVB is changing fast, especially since he started playing 442 (his insistence on trying to make us play like Chelsea was my only criticism of him, in truth). If you asked me, right now, to choose between having Harry back or sticking with AVB, I'll have to admit to you that I'd like to keep things the way they are, thank you very much.

He's just doing his job as he did for us, bar the last 6 months before the gruesome twosome jump all over me! :) He's taking the pressure off his team, not sure why, we're 3rd and they're bottom so we're favourites anyway. Very gracious in that piece, but he'll be hellbent on beating us. I doubt it'll be the last we hear from him before saturday either!

You started off talking about the AVB juggernaut back in september....by the end of November you were calling him a clown and calling everyone who said give him time a sheep and now you are back to being pro AVB...
YOU are the SOLE reason we are called fickle <laugh>

  13. I called him a clown because he had taken us on a series of dreadful games by persisting with a 1-5-4 system that clearly was not working for us, and which had never worked for us. I called him a clown because I was frustrated that he appeared to be stubbornly sticking to a system that would have ensured our failure. Then, for what ever reason, he switched to 442, immediately improving our fortunes, so much so that we now sit 3rd in the EPL and are still in the FA Cup.

He was acting like a clown, so I think I was right to call him a clown, don't you? The fact that you didn't have the balls to call it how it was - or, as is more likely, were far too stupid to actually see what was going wrong - is not my fault, so please don't presume to have the knowledge or the authority to pull me up on anything. I don't need the likes of you telling me how to read the game.

No. It is the likes of you that lead others to call us dim and unknowledgeable about the game <ok>

Since when have you been so self rightous...it was a joke...hence the laughing face.
I disagreed with you at the time ... in a friendly manner ... and it was you who referred to fellow spurs fans as sheep.

I said that I thought that missing Parker, Ekotto and Kaboul was a problem and that as we were sitting in 6th .... just 2 points off 4th... it was way too early to be calling AVB a clown...Now you think you've a right to state that I am "too stupid" to see what the problem was...I simply disagreed with you so it has **** all to be any thing to do with me having balls or being stupid.

As for us "Still being in the FA Cup" ... **** me we've only played coventry...who are 11th in league 1.

I don't assume to tell you **** all...I thought you were a laugh and liked banter but obviously you are simply ok to dish it out and are a bit of a flower when it comes to getting any directed at so rest assured that I won't respond to anything else you have to say.
