£8.11M transfer fee and £1.62M a year in wages but that is net so we have to double that? p_q

Saints have made an enquiry for a loan move for Barcelona's young winger, Cristian Tello

We were linked in the summer for him. Watched him a couple of times this season, Lallana wouldn't get back in the side until he went home, the kid oozes class.

Pretty sure they're saying 2m euros net which works out to about £1.6m

In respect to being concerned about money, I'm not worried. It's not transfer fees that kill clubs, it's wage bills, and I'd be willing to bet we have one of the smallest salary bills in the league. I've heard 40k being bandied about as a weekly wage for Ramirez, if true that really is nothing, I bet QPR have players on that who don't get a game.

Barring debilitating injuries all of the players we have bought are highly marketable young talents who we would have no worries shifting if we went down. Clubs that have worries are the ones with ageing players who don't see the point of leaving when they are relegated and would rather see out their contract. I can't see Ramirez or Astori deciding they would prefer life in the NPC over transferring to another club.

Chill-out and enjoy the ride!

I realise we need to strengthen, but why does everyone cost £10M, & does this not worry anyone else? I have come to terms with Gaston with his high end average wage, but some other names been chucked around would be on more & could be rather disruptive. We need to be careful, money isn't always the answer.
Dons bullet proof hat in wait for replys.

I hear you man, but our wages being so low compared to most others in the league comforts me a bit. If we are relegated, of course the players would go, but I think we will be able to recover financially. Holding on to enough players to challenge in the Champ would be the tough bit, you only have to look at 13th to 20th in the division to see that. Nige needs to be cautious, but I think he is not far off getting it sorted.

Ramirez is on net 35k a week aswell, have to remember that footballers won't be paying the same rate of tax as everyone else as they are effectively businesses in their own right and will have accountants doing everything they can to pay the minimum tax possible.

Don't forget the traditional assortment of clauses, bonuses, installments etc. Probably not very easy (or accurate) to put a headline figure on it.

As someone else said its a calculated gamble. Should we stay up this year the tv money for next season is massive. Pretty sure I read somewhere that you get more for finishing 20th next season than you do for coming runners up this year. So from a financial point of view it is hugely important to not go down this year

TV money is shared equally between all the teams, has no bearing on prize money for finishing position. But yes, it is increasing considerably.

Don't click the link quoted below. It will scare you to death.

Being serious, I'd not recommend it. Don't think I am lying because I'm not. See later comments.

Don't open it!

As employees though, they'll be taxed through PAYE so their options are pretty limited. Incidentally, how do you know Ramirez is on £35k net?
