Not a POLITICAL thread about should these two great clubs be in the prem.

But more a thread about, would you LIKE to see them in the prem.

For me it's easy, too right i would like them to be there,

Great support, would bring thousands to the sol, great for the lads on away days,

Would shake things up in the prem a bit (not sure how well they'd do).

Both have great ties with many prem. clubs, so for me i hope one day they manage to find a way to bring these two in.

    How, iv'e no idea?

I'm torn on this. I think it would be a nightmare to incorporate as I think every club outside the prem would appeal it and any team who linger near the bottom of the prem as there threat of relegation would potentially be increased if the league would be kept at 20 teams. I think in fairness they should start in the championship as league 1 teams don't have such a strong argument in my opinion to them starting any lower. Or would it be a case of upsetting as few as possible and putting them straight into a 22 team premier league for the season the start. this would effect promotion or relegation.

^ should read wouldn't effect relegation. I just can't see it ever happening. As to where I think they'd finish? Hard to call, purely on their squads 19th and 20th. However I think their home would be a fortess and many teams would leave empty handed. id say 8-14th. On top of that once they had a season in the prem under their belt they'd be a very attractive proposition to any player and with the enhanced revenue through tv and commercial income I think that apart from man u, chelsea, city, liverpool, arsenal they'd be next in the running for top players. I just can't decide if id want them here.

    Keep 'em out.

Many of them hate us with a vengeance and would just be using the premier league for their own ends.

All it would do would be to make them richer, stronger and their rascist biggotted supporters even more obnoxious.

They have their own parliament and their own league so they should stick with it. If our government isn't good enough for them then our football shouldn't be either.

Oh and I had a Scottish mother and have Scottish cousins etc who are wonderful people so I'm not anti Scottish or Scotland.

I would say a big "NO". It has been proved on countless ocassions that when their fans cross the border into England they bring nothing but trouble and mayhem. It would aslo be disastrous for Scottish football in general which would be nothing without these clubs.
The trouble with these two clubs is that they are steeped and grounded in religious hatred, and there is no sign of this waning at this present time. And in my opinion has no place in the Premier League.

If they had to play a hard fought game every week instead of the dross they play now they wouldn't last 5 minutes in the prem.

Have you ever been to a Rangers- Celtic game. If you have you would not want them within a 100 miles of the English leagues. The rivalry between the 2 Edinburgh clubs is quite civilised.

FIFA would never allow it as Scotland has its own professional league. There are only a handful of teams in the world who are allowed to compete in another countries league. The Wellington Phoenix from New Zealand is one such team which does so in the Australian League as NZ has no professional league of its own. This was only sanctioned at the very highest level by FIFA due to NZ’s geographical distance to compete against better competition with the intention of growing football in NZ. This is not required by any European player. A note for any interested but the shortest flight time is Wellington / Melbourne at 3 hours. All others are 3+ to 8 !!

Cardiff, and Swansea spring to mind both welsh teams playing in the English League.

As to the original post NO, NEVER, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS. not good enough to play at prem level week in week out, would struggle. If they were to come down they would need to start in the lower leagues and try to work their way up.

Don't think I would like to see them in the best league in the world. No No No!
If the FA, FIFA, or whoever, overlook the religious bigotry, and decide that they can join the English FA they should start in the second division of the blue star premier league.
Cant see that happening ...thank heaven

The Cardiff/Swansea thing is very similar. With those two the welsh leagues have nothing...TNS ftw! Without Celtic and Rangers the Scots league would suffer a similar fate, Even if they were allowed for me they would have to start in league 2.

When Celtic played Berwick Rangers in the Scottish Cup in January they brought with them a busload of their own stewards to help deal with any problems that could occur. Berwick had to pay a £10,000 bill for the extra police needed on the day. The Glasgow police also told Berwick of the possible invasion by a mob of so called Celtic supporters who are banned from attending any footbal ground in the UK. The mob threatened to break down the gates at Berwick Rangers ground to gain admission to the match, thankfully it didn't happen. On the credit side the 3500 supporters who were in the ground caused no problems. I don't think we want to entertain the possiblity of having a mob invade the SOL.
On thre playing side a very ordinary Celtic made heavy weather of beating a Berwick team of part timers who train together one night a week. No thanks we do not want either Celtic or Rangers anywhere near the EPL.

Historical only. The rules were changed a number of years ago to stop it from happening so that one countries league wouldn't collapse as a result of a neighbouring countries stronger one. An example of FIFA’s geographical guideline is Toronto who joined the MSL in about 2007. Like I said only a handful so going forward I couldn't see FIFA making a new exception in Europe as this wouldn't help grow the game in their region as players only need to travel a few km’s to compete at a higher level.

They would over time get much stronger as has happened in New Zealand. For a number of years the Auckland franchise finished last each season before folding financially. The new team, the Wellington Phoenix located in another city has completed more successfully year on year resulting in a semi-final playoff last year. The New Zealand team then made it all the way to the last World Cup in Sth Africa for the first time since 1982 & finished with the record of the only team in the tournament not to lose a single game!

It's a no from me too. Even if they did come straight in to the Premier League, they would be relegated in their first season. The standard of SPL football is knowhere near the standard of the PL. Championship level, at best.

I recall a 'friendly' at Roker Park against Celtic.

Dozens of cottages around the ground had their windows put out
    :(

That is why such 'home' games are discouraged by the police......... and it is the club of course who foot the bill for the policing of games.
