  1. If he had a shred of decency in his body you would think he would at least have changed his celebration for the day?
Oh - I seem to have answered my own question.....

He has a tatoo of his daughters name on his wrist, that's why he kisses it after "scoring"

Rogers is quickly becoming the 'Man With No Shame.' Bit sad that Liverpool needed to break the rules to beat a non-league team. Any manager worth their salt would have held their hands up, apologised to Mansfield and admitted they were lucky.

In many ways, he's showing some form of continuity from their last manager - certainly his inability to take responsibility or apologise for his players' actions.

I don't think he needs to 'apologise' for Suarez as it was pretty instinctive movement of the arm, not a blatant cheat. But he still gained advantage from it and as such it was a foul. Rodgers needs to admit that they got lucky. Otherwise Liverpool will just continue to be seen as a win at all costs, classless outfit.

  12. OSS - whilst I agree with most of your thoughts above, having seen the stats on handball offences published in the Times today (and copied into the Mouser thread) I think that Suarez is just a blatant cheat - in many ways probably, but specifically when it comes to the use of his arm/ hand.

Well that's one for all you gamblers out there, then. Banker.

Seriously though, why would you pick him? Of all the refs available, he has to be the most controversial appointment possible.
Maybe Fergie wouldn't agree to anyone else doing it?

We've got Lee Probert, who spent his last Premier League game stitching up Southampton against the Goons and sent Ameobi off for nothing on the weekend. <ok>

Genuinly feel sorry for Liverpool, although on the plus side it means he won't get our game against United(or QPR for that matter). Just Twatkinson and Clattenburg to avoid now.

Unlike most, I don't subscribe to the myth Webb deliberately gives decisions to United but his conduct in the following:

    Man U v Spurs (08/09)
    Chelsea v Man U (11/12)
    Man U v Liverpool (FA Cup 10/11)

in particular has left him open for justifiable criticism. If the FA had any kind of integrity they'd have appointed another ref to avoid the controversy. It's not going to be an easy game to ref by any means. Suarez and Man Utd players are hardly connoisseurs of fair play and all that is great about football.

I've had a message off my ex-boss (Arsenal fan) and he's livid about the appointment of Dean for their game against City, apparently they've only won 1 game out of 12 with him as ref (against you in the 5-2) and that was after a controversial pen.

We know we won't get Clattenburg any time soon so all I ask for is that we don't get Foy or Dowd for the Arsenal game.

You laugh and joke PNP but Paddy Power have already shortened odds on a United win, they are now odds on at 4/5, they've just announced it and actually stated Webb's appointment as the reason. Tells you all you need to know, Bookies rarely wrong <ok>

Webb just tends to side with the bigger club, especially if they're at home which is probably why United get a lot of the decisions. He also seems to put "letting the game flow" above actually applying the rules of the game at times too. Case in point his refusal to send of De Jong for a karate kick and several other bad challenges during the World Cup final, which for some reason earnt him praise!

I actually rate Dean as a ref but that stat might be why <whistle>

Forgot about Dowd but Foy avoided giving United a lot of soft penalties at OT in our game so he redeemed himself a bit. Still a **** ref but at least he's shown he doesn't totally hate us :D

It's funny how different fans depending on who you support have different opinions on refs. I actually quite like Webb (despite the game v Man U last season). I have no time for Foy, Dowd or Clattenburg though and as for Graham Poll, wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. The most anti-Chelsea ref your every likely to find. Just talking about him makes me angry <grr>
