Yes, he has a dodgy knee.

I just wish our Steven Taylor, Hatem Ben Arfa, Johan Cabaye and Jonas Gutierrez had his dodgy knee. How many games has he missed through injury recently?
Exactly.

he is a perfect professional. one aspect of that is that he is motivated by money. in this he is similar to every other player playing for either of our clubs. in all other aspects, he cannot be improved

I was never really sure. Some of the time he looks really wound up at little things. He also always blames the person playing the ball wrong than himself for not challenging wll enough or making the wrong run

What I've noticed is despite his height, strength and ability to jump well, his heading accuracy on goal isn't that great. It's good, but not as good as you would expect from a striker like him.

His ability in the air pales in comparison to his ability on the ground. He's works hard when he's motivated to, but if things aren't going his way, he seems to get greedy, shoot from distance, instead of tracking back and working for others.

When he's good He's great! When he's bad hes awful! Terrible at Long range shooting, Great in the box! He will do well at Chelsea as he can hold the ball up and he'l bring Mata & Hazard (and Oscar but Benitez hasnt started him much?! I think he's as good as Hazard!) into play further up the pitch and will probably be less greedy as he'l be 1 of the worser players on the pitch for you's! Good value for money but I think a club with your ambition should have the Falcao's of this world not the Ba's! I do think Newcastle will be better off without Ba, because if we compare Ba and Cisse when both are on form playing in the middle, Cisse wipes the floor with him, and we will get to see that now!

It's a god job that we have Cisse to play down the middle, hopefully this is his big chance....unless we sign Remy and Cisse goes back onto the wing :steam:

The thing with Ba is that we need to remember the long road he has travelled to get where he is. He was rejected by both Barnsley and Watford early in his career, wouldn't that teach you to take advantage of anything good that came your way?

He is also a sublime player as well, imo.

Strength - Leaving Newcastle

Weakness - signing for them in the first place.

Slight difference though leaving for Chelsea, current Champions League holders, than leaving for relegation candidates Aston Villa.

It's always a delight to get the considered opinion of an educated man...

...not that that sentence has anything remotely to do with your 'input'

35 eh?

Good player and pure goal machine. Good all round game. His passing is not the best but his goals help you ignore that. By no means the greatest striker around but very good and very reliable on the goal front. Strong lad who is reasonably quick with good hold up play.

Got a good deal basically. Much like we did.

As for the mackem input, much appreciated as always <laugh>

Massive difference wanting to play with world class players and for the champions of Europe, and signing for a bottom half club on the decline <doh>

He was playing with world class players at NUFC, trouble is just too few. I'll forgive you for forgetting their existence, but the club doc assures us they are still alive.

Let's assess how "in decline" both our clubs are at the end of the season. You may very well be right but glass houses and all that.

As regards to the original question about Demba – he's an increasingly rare commodity, a striker who will bag you 20-25 goals a season.
He'll score more for Chelsea if he's played on his own through the middle and given that he's proven in the Premier League (unlike the albeit superb Falcao) his £7m price could have been doubled and some.

Far from the complete striker, YES – heading poor, shooting from range wayward, even awareness and attitude sometimes questionable. Would we have him back? NO.

But another player as good would be nice. Soon. Perhaps even Darren Bent wouldn't be the dumbest suggestion.

If you read the quotes, you will see they are generally positive.

If you read past threads, you will see that all of the comments respecting heading, shooting from distance, awareness etc. were debated while he was still our player.

If the point of your post is that we are slating a player that we have never criticised in the past, then you are wrong on both counts.

But thanks for trying
