Just been thinking about it a lil bit lately about how losely the word is used. I realise this may bring about some bit of stick and crap but here goes. Now this is my personal view.... a legend in my way of thinking is someone that sticks with us and performs regularly to some level of consistency. Someone who who respects or even loves our club regardless of where they are from. For me, football legends can come from the most unlikely of places but one thing that is sure in my mind....they stand out amongst all others. I do however appreciate that people get excited when someone scores a memorable goal or someone has been solid for a season.........but a legend...in my eyes never. A top man yes..... even a hero. Would love to hear your thoughts on this lads.

Really can not see anyone in disagreement with you Tipp...legendary status is something very hard to come by imo.
Hero / legend? They are few and far between, especially in the modern era. One player who would qualify as both would be Macca, 17 years at the club and never let us down. The yardstick for the word legend...
How close would someone like Hill come? Joined us late in his career so wont have chance to rack up the games and years but you can never fault his commitmebt and dedication. I'm gonna go legend in this case.
Hill defo not a legend for me...highly respected and well liked, maybe a bit of a current hero, but not an Rs legend imo. As sooper says, Macca is probably one true legend of the club. Stan Bowles, Gerry Francis, Phil Parkes, Kevin Gallen, and Tony Ingham also spring to mind...probably a few others worth a legend shout? Sir Les? Fenwick? Allen? Ainsworth? Bardsley? Dawes? Venables? Bannister? Wilkins? Sinton? Sinclair? Cook? Rowlie? Holloway?...
Totally agree - banded about too loosely......Def Macca, sir Stanley, Phil parks, sir Les, Gerry F, Clive Allen, Rodney & poss Venables as both player and manager ....goes to show how tough the last 40 years have been like that legends have been few and far between in recent years The "top man" category would include most of the rest of the 75/76 team plus from the later days - holloway, rowland, Gary waddock, gallen, Paul Goddard...
can I throw Crouchy in as a legend. Forgot the details, but didnt he part with some cash on the quiet (his signing on fee when he left us?) to put in the fan bucket collections that were going around that time ? .......... I stand corrected, but am sure he did something like that
I think an honorary legend would be Lee Cook, although the star of a very poor side and not with us for that long, his gesture of giving the club his signing-on fee in our hardest times when he left for Fulham was virtually unheard of in the modern era of money-grabbing greed...
On the playing side Rodney, Stanley, Gerry, Macca, Clive, Sir Les and Adel are all legends and heroes for me. On the manager side Sexton, Venables and Colin are too.
True, Alec Stock being a legend for Yeovil too as well as winning the league with Roma and a Cup Final with Fulham. Amazing career.
A legend need not be heroic or great, the most memorable legend for me is Mr Hughes, he will never be forgotten and left us a true legacy of ****. A legendary failure.
Adel Tarrabt is not a legend. He may be a hero? at times for some but a legend....not even in the making yet.

Living legend for me mate. I saw Stan Bowles at his very best, and also his very worst. He is the best player I have ever seen in a QPR shirt. Adel is very close both at his best and worse, and probably better considering the much faster pace of today's game. Enjoy him while he's still with us!
I had a season ticket during the mid seventies and was lucky enough to see the best QPR side ever. The years pass and the game changes but for me I have yet to see any legends in the making at Loftus Road since the last 20 years or so. Each of us have our own idea about legendary status and heroes. For me football or sport in general is not something that has many of either.
Very much this, but if Adel had had a career ending injury at the end of the championship season he would be firmly in the legend category. It's al lotto current to make a call on him today.
