I reckon if we aim for the playoffs we can't be too disappointed with whatever we achieve. Buy a couple of quality players, and try to get promoted, but don't pump loads of cash in expecting promotion straigt away.

I would be happy with a top half finish and see next year as a consolidation season, but you can't aim for that. Nigel will aim for promotion and see where it takes us.

Just enjoy ourselves, get wins on the board early doors which we normally fail to do and make sure we're comfortable by Christmas/New Year so that we can set a realistic expectation from there. Might sound obvious but it's just a case of winning as many games as possible and seeing where we get to.

A push for the play-offs would be great but we don't want to get over-cocky in the fact that Leeds, Millwall and Norwich, the later especially, all had good seasons.

Nigel is/will build a squad capable of pushing on when needs by. Right now though, I'm just delighted we've finally escaped from League 1 and can go into a season with little pressure on us -in which I hope the players will thrive.

Watch out for players like Barnard and Guly shining, people will write them off early doors but they'll be fantastic in the Championship along with our usual superstars.

Yeah, I think the style of play in the Champ will suit Guly much more.

I think the early part of the season will be a tester for most of the guys. Especially the ones that have never played at that level. I think that NA will be looking hard to see where he needs strengthening who is not up to the challenge. My personal opinion for what its worth is that he will be looking for up to 4 players by January. I am not going to speculate on who yet as we will need something to talk about during the summer! It may well be that there will indeed be additions during the summer as he too may have at least in his mind already identified possible weaknesses. Other than replacing Puncheon I cannot think of any other purchases he will make. I think Mills will go and Pulis maybe Jaidi. The rest is speculation, he may let young goberne go if he brings in another midfielder I E Stephans. I think we just might be in for a few surprises and a few shocks as well. We have to build for the premier from the off. The passing has to be a lot quicker and slicker and a darn sight more accurate. So a season in the top 7/8 would be nice. Two wins against our nearest a dearest a bonus!!

At the moment I think the only thing we can realistically aim for is avoiding relegation, unless we invest heavily. I personally hope we don't, because disaster lies down the road of chasing the dream. Nigel has said he will probably be signing only one or two more players, and that is sensible. I think even thoughts of getting to the premiership in two years are over optimistic. I think it will take a long building process to get a team capable of challenging for promotion. Remember the teams coming down now get four years worth of parachute payments (worth £48 million), and there is no way we can financially compete with that.

I'm with you on this one. Continue to build the team sensibly and see where we end up, with the only expectation to avoid going back down. There are more expectations than there are promotion places, so instead of expecting the world, we go out to enjoy our football.

We go for promotion as fast as we can. If we do it in a year and slip back again then we have four years of parachute money to add to Markus's money to get us back again. We cannot lose by going all out for promotion.

That actually makes a lot of sense financially. However a really bad season in the Premiership can be very demoralising to the players that are relegated.

I would prefer to see us safely ensconced in mid table next season by Xmas. Then Nigel will, if we haven't had a load of injuries, have a better idea of where we need strengthening.

Nicola said at the beginning something along the lines that he doesn't see struggling in the Premiership for 27 years as a success, he wants more than that. So I guess he wants this done right. Financially, coming down with the parachute payments makes sense, but I think we need to build this team properly. Saints need solid foundations for a strong future. This bus needs a Rolls Royce engine.

But we want to get up to the Premier League and stay there. Not one season and get p!ssed on week in week out. Patience and the glory days will come again.
