Christ, if you care that much pleae read my first comment. I said that i didn't know why Astori would be interested in joining us, unless he wants a big wage-Like Ramirez did.

Sounds like Cortese's up to his old tricks! Hope it doesn't drag out until the 31st!

Yes, so you therefore isolated Ramirez from the rest of the signings. Of course all of our signings wanted a pay-rise. They didn't want to play for us for less, or for free.

    I'm off now.

Had a little search of his name on Twitter and the Italians all seem to be like: "Gaston and Astori?! Why it's Southampton ffs"

I asked if they think he is that good, they tell me he is a very good CB. Too good to be playing for Southampton. Like Gaston.

Love how on a couple of the news articles they describe Targett as the 'long term successor' of Shaw. Shaw's been in the team for a couple of months and is only 17 years old, and someone two months younger than him is his 'long term successor'! Hilarious. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Not this again! Just pay them Cortese, please, I know every penny is important to you but my heart just can't take it.

To be fair Ramirez has been quoted as saying "they offered me a lot of money", compared to what he was on at Bologna.

Ramirez came here because Cortese was friendly with the agent. Players on the whole aren't too fussy about who pays their wages so long as they get the football and the prestige they're after. They just get on with their job and let the agents deal with contracts.

I will call him Dave Arsestory

Which is quite a co-incidence as I have a mate called Dave who has a very interesting story about his arse.

Fans love their clubs, players can learn to..if you are lucky you have a player who is a fan. Wages are a factor that we all consider when taking a job. Ramirez did say we offered a lot of money, but he was also excited about the fact that he was promised he would be central to our team. A young man was offered good wages to play in a league he had dreamed about...what's wrong with that? I've seen no signs that he is coasting...he is doing his best and he and Adkins have both said how happy he is.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm quite up for forcing the hand of numerous Italian clubs to sell us their star assets?

Especially if they are all "too good for Southampton", because eventually Southampton will be "too good for Southampton".

I believe Ramirez was offered a position at another club who wanted to pay him about what he was getting at Bologna. He said that he wouldn't move for nothing. Fair enough to me.

He turned down, Napoli, Inter and Spurs because they didn't meet his wage demands. If you want to belive the Italian press that is, Which it seems we all are now.

For those interested, Cagliari are away to Lazio tomorrow night, 19:00 kick off their time. So 6pm here?

Might be worth looking at the teamsheets, although I'd not be surprised to see him play.
