I don't think Gaston had the pick as no one else actually got to the stage of having their bid accepted (something supported by the reports of Tancredi Palmeri, Daniele Labanti and Simon Peach at the time of the rumours).

Brouc ahd trials at QPR and Everton, neither wanted him. We were the only team who were prepared to meet the stupid monet Burnley wanted for Two - Goal.
We were the only premiership team to approach Davis. We were the only club to offer a contract and agree compensation with Palace. None of them are here because they love Saints. What is your point?
