I like the fact that we are producing all over the pitch now. At one time the academy seemed to produce only attacking players...now if we could only produce goalkeepers:smile:

Chambers will be the next academy player to step up imo, plays RM and will be another class act. Agreed on the GK front we seem to find it hard producing good keepers.

Maybe he's better than Shaw and our plan is to keep him secret until he turns 18 and then tie him to a long term deal.

When I have seen him play(not that much) he looks near enough the same, Shaw maybe little better defending wise but it's close.

Davide Astori's agent has confirmed to Sky Sports that Southampton are one of a number of clubs interested in landing the Italian international. The 25-year-old defender is currently with Cagliari, but he is being tipped to secure a move away from Sardinia.Saints boss Nigel Adkins has admitted an interest, but with the likes of Napoli also looking at Astori - he does have a number of options."There are many clubs interested in Astori and among them I know there is also Southampton," Renzo Contratto told Sky Sports."Both the player and Cagliari have said in the last days that, in the event that an important offer came, they will evaluate it together and decide what to do. This could happen even in January

Chris Johns is highly thought of, signed a pro contract in the summer. Not sure how far he will go but I know they think highly of him.

Much as I love my team, given the choice between living in Napoli (sunny weather and pretty ladies) and Southampton (not sunny and .....), I know what I would choose !

I would love this to happen, but I have to admit that I think it is unlikely...

But you're forgetting Mr Cortese. If he can persuade Gaston to join Saints I'm sure he can persuade Astori.
