In honour of our new Antipodean striker, I've been thinking about our club's debut goalscorers. There have actually been quite a lot this season alone, which is where I'll start. Chris Wood Matty James Jamie Vardy Marko Futács (Antony Knockaert also scored on his first start, but can't remember if he'd had a few substitute appearances before that).
Darren Kenton got Nigel Worthingtons first goal as manager! Apart from that, Id say Barry Hayles. Always good for a goal was our Barry.
Joe Waters in a 2-0 away win at QPR in the FA cup .... watch the highlights on Youtube and the surge from the massed ranks of City fans behind the goal ...
Can't be arsed to look but seem to recall his debut might have been at Watford (a drab draw?) at the weekend before playing Sunderland in mid-week where Stan and Bruno were on fire and tore them to shreds in a 5-2 win.. the TV pundits had come to talk about Quinn and Phillips but went away speculating whether the Leicester pair might not be a possible option for England on that display ... brilliant night.
