waghorn is a player i've always liked and was disappointed we didn't get last year but £3m is quite substantial.

i'd be very surprised we had any chance at wellens, he was voted player of the year at leicester.

    dyer would be more likely.

You have no chance of sign Wellens or King. Sven has gave them new contracts in recent weeks and they have played big parts.

Fryatt was never voted player of the year. Steve Howard was in 2009

Derby were rumoured to be in for Waghorn, but bidding only £1.2m.

Really, I thought they were crippled with debt? Very surprised if that's true.

Players that i think will interest Nigel will be Bruno Berner, Martyn Waghorn, Steve Howard, Chris Weale, Lloyd Dyer.

Derby tried to get Waggy on loan but we said no. With Derby signing Theo Robinson and Jamie Ward i would think its unlikely they have the money for Waghorn. There will be alot of interest in Waghorn

Could see us trying for Waghorn, but at a lower price than has been quoted on here. I also think Nige could try for Chris Weale as a back up to whichever keeper we manage to sign out of Eilhoff, Mannone and Guzan.

Dyer I don't think would be a priority, but it's feasible, and the rest I can't see him going for. I could, of course, be mistaken.

Waghorn i reckon will cost around 1-1.5M with us paying 2M up front last season and a further 1M in add ons. We will want a decent return for him. Dyer, Howard, Weale, Berner would cost peanuts. About 500K for Dyer, 300K for Howard was quoted last week, 250K for Weale and Berner about 100K

Even at that price for Waghorn, I can't see it happening. Not because he's not worth it, but because I don't think we'll have a great deal to spend and he's not the kind of striker I think we need. Who knows!

The problem you would have is Fryatt and Waghorn dont link up at all. They look like 2 strangers to each other when they play together

    2,000 posts - Yay! <diva> <badger> :emoticon-0169-dance <bubbly>

Anyway, I agree. I think they're similar players and we really need a target man. With Waghorn being more of a 5ft tall Neanderthal-esque creature, he doesn't really fit the bill.

I still hope we go for someone like Steve Morison or Danny Graham.

I think this is more about who you HOPE NP takes from you rather than who he actually will.

When we have Andy Dawson and the "new" Joe Dudgen at left back, why would we want a 34 year old left back?
When we are targetting Vito Mannone, Brad Guzan and Dennis Eilhoff as Goalkeeper why would we want Weale?
When we have Cameron Stewart as a wide speed merchant , why would we want Dyer?
How old is Howard now? Oh, yeah, many happy returns Steve, 35 today. Not going to happen.

    Sorry but it's just Hobbs.

I was VERY impressed with Morrison and he would DEFINITELY be a 20+ goals a season striker.

Surely with our wage structure he would want to come but it would take £3m to get him. Would we pay that? Doubt it.

I doubt it either and I'm sure that's what it would take, but we can live in hope.

I dont want to lose any of them. They are all fans favourites but Sven doenst want them. And as things stand Hobbs is a Leicester player and unless Man City and Benfica sell Mee and Vitor, Hobbs may still have a future here.

With your left backs Dawson is crap and Dungeon is young so he someone like Berner as back up will only help him.
Weale is a good championship keeper and last season under Nigel he was brilliant for us and will do a decent job for anyone in this league
There is 2 wings on the pitch so why wouldnt you want both Dyer and Steward. Nigel knows Dyer really well having worked with him at West Brom and here
And Howard is old but so what. He isnt any slower then he was 10 years ago. Still slow as a donkey then as he is now. And will do more then a job in this league. Ask Cardiff fans

Joe Dudgeon is 21 this year, he looks nailed on for Man United reserve team player of the year and I think he'll be first choice left back next season, with Dawson as cover(and Chester if required), we won't sign another left back.

We have a tradition of not buying any left backs at all, I believe Winston Churchill was in power when we signed the last one........
