When many were singing his praises and saying we were in a title race kept on reiterating otherwise. Reality is we've got a very good GK, defence and midfield but no striker. When City have Dzeko, Tevez, Aguero & Balotelli and United have RVP, Rooney & Hernandez I can't get my head around why people thought we could realistically compete with them. I was shut down for slamming Gourlay and the board for not signing strikers in the previous window and said it would be the difference between us challenging the Manchester clubs. The way Benitez has us tactically set up I am absolutely sure we will drop plenty more points at home to well organised teams that can counter but we'll pick up more points against the two Manchester clubs and rivals for 4th place.

4th for me was and is the only target, it's important we get some strikers in and ensure we win our game in hand against Southampton. At the moment we are where we deserve to be, fair play to QPR, they were excellent and I can't think of more than 1 or 2 good chances we created. 9/12 isn't a bad return given the fixtures we had but if we had won today with the momentum we'd have had I don't think Spurs or Arsenal would have realistically been able to catch us.

Onwards and upwards, there's no time to dwell on it now as we have important cup ties and 2 big games against Stoke and Arsenal (games which we have to win).

Not in the right mind set from the game. Anyone could see that. Making a meal (as usual) of securing a Top 4 finish, but fair play, QPR knew what they wanted to do and did it.

Not sure it was a reality check we needed, more a case of chickens coming home to roost.

Waaaaaaay back in the afterglow of 19.05.12 we all knew we had an impotent strike force.

I think we are still very much a team in transition and will be until we have a worthy replacement for Frank in his pomp and a crew of strikers to be reckoned with.

Tbh I am amazed we are anywhere near the top of the league at the mo'.

That is the frustrating thing about Rafas system, you'll get good results against top teams, and every now and then you'll drop silly points at home. You'll be in the top four at the end of the season, and you will hand more teams arses to them on a plate this season.

Must admit, at the start of this season I thought Torres would bang them in for you lot, he's got better past few weeks but by Eck was he **** tonight.

Face up to the fact that you are inferior to us - and always have/will be!

Look - there have been some complimentary posts praising your result. Here, on your board and on other CFC forums.

Enjoy that but please don't post crap like that.

I do not know what alternate reality you inhabit but it is clearly one where a distinct lack of success for decades is superior to a groaning trophy cabinet etc.

When you get back to the real world come and post something sensible.

For the record: well done tonight, you defended well, took your chance and we were *hite. But superior you ain't.

DL --It may be a reality check , but the idea of 4th place is a no-no for me! We were -and still are-targetting 3rd after a bad day at the office! To much celebrating the night before , if you ask me!

Wonder who gave the better pre match team talk.......

The Spanish guy or the Londoner, that would know all about the importance of this game?

Silly post.

The OP has been very generous with his praise for QPR (no surprise with DL) and to be fair, Chelsea should have scored a couple tonight. However, because of the sh*te luck we've had this season and with the effort put in by all the lads tonight, I think we deserved the win.

Chelsea will bounce back but I don't think anyone genuinely believed there was a title challenge in them this season.

Your game against Arsenal is now looking like a top 4 six-pointer.

The fact is Benitez never really has "got" The Premier League or Local fixtures. It's no surprise to me the two teams we've lost to under him are West Ham and QPR. You always know these fixtures are going to be tight and edgy with the opposition up for it. This club has lost it's soul under Benitez IMO (that's not his fault completely though). Rest assured no QPR or West Ham team would ever field an under strength against Chelsea so why should we field an under strength side against them? I can't say I've ever known Alex Ferguson to do that against Bolton, Wigan, Man City or Blackburn - teams local to United. QPR deserved the win no two ways about it, we could have been there for another 90 minutes and still not scored.

Your game against Arsenal is now looking like a top 4 six-pointer.

What the hell are you on about HIAG? 3rd is still ours to lose. Every game between Everton, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal will have some bearing on 3rd/4th, as it stands Chelsea are favourites but not by much.

Never have and never did Swords. I couldn't believe it when Chelsea fans on social media were getting angry at City and United winning. Chelsea won't be title contenders until Torres leaves and Benitez is off with him.

I may have been talking with my tongue firmly in my cheek, DL.
