Am I right in thinking we're the only side who could go in for VdV given the whole '2 clubs a season' rule?

That I can't confirm, but if we had VDV & Ade linking up, I would say that would help us kick on in the second half, even at the expense of Defoe in certain games, as right now we have little options in terms of the right strike partnership.

Thank you for the support sir. I thought it was OK to do. But if OCD peeps want to get involved happy to sit back and not try to help

I think vimhawk was right to raise it as we do try to avoid repeated threads, in this case IMO (as a poster) I think it's fine. We merge posts where necessary. <ok>

I mentioned our registered interest the other day but nobody believed me then.

SC, you need to work your way up to the level of Roo, as he is the master of all transfer news (ITK), maybe Roo can take you under his wing and you can get him a job as a scout?

hahaha u sarcastic ****er! <laugh>

never put me in the ITK category Boss, I know nothing. I just pass on what I read to you guys! Doing my bit for the community an'all that! <laugh>

Spurcat's talk of Villa has also been mentioned in 1 or 2 other reports in the last 24-48 hours. As it's being backed up by Spurcat, it's probably likely to be true! <ok>

id buy dzeko if city were selling for 20mill
Willian to play as ACM for about 25 if im being realistic that leaves me 5 and id spend it on women and drugs.

we should get rose back who is sufficent cover for Benny..however Baines would slot right in before both if it ever happened.

Hi Spurcat, HNY. <ok>

I've seen a few reports on this now. it's been said that they want 16 mill and aren't prepared to accept loan offers. Do you know any more? David Villa would be a hell of a signing, but isn't he on about 7mill euro's p/a? (about £110p/w roughly) Master Stroke from Levy if it happens. Again, only a temporary (and costly) solution though, where we'll be looking to bed in another striker come the summer.

And a HNY to you Roo <ok>.

We made an offer to take Villa on loan which was rejected. We then asked both Barca and his agent, to be kept informed of any change of mind and any developments regarding his immediate future. Timewise, this was about 14 days ago. I am not aware of any fresh progress since.

What a signing David Villa would be, but what's the reason for his sudden touting to all clubs? is it to help him recover from injury or are Barca just keen to off load?

And Roo, you do a great job with your transfer gossip, (as does SOS), even if I give you grief for believing them dodgy agents on twitter ha ha

I believed you, I just think it's extremely unlikely to actually happen.
I'd be less surprised if we re-signed Ricky Villa or even bought up Aston Villa, to be honest.

Maybe they're looking to pick up a replacement? Llorente, Negredo or Falcao ( <yikes> ), perhaps?

Falcao & Messi <yikes>

There was a thread on the Swansea board recently with them claiming Villa is considering a loan move to them, with the influence of Laudrup.

I heard Moyes say he would be interested, so his agent must be touting him about all English clubs.

Just found this online

In December 2011, with everything going smoothly and having just turned 30, David Villa suffered a broken leg in a Club World Cup game with Al Sadd (Qatar). Having faced a long injury lay-off it would appear Villa has not quite returned the player he was. He has lost a yard of pace and no longer starts many games for Barcelona, and this is seemingly why they are willing to offload him.

This is not to say Villa is not still a class act. If he does move on, his new club will have a player who still possesses an almost unrivalled accuracy in front of goal, as well as a striker who works relentlessly for the good of the team. His movement and ability to bring others into the game are also up there with the best.

So basically we're could be buying another Torres?

if he has lost a yard wouldnt it make sense to start him a yard further up than the rest..thus nullifying the problem?

I said similar when the Gooners were weighing up whether they wanted to go for him. He's clearly a player who is helped by his pace and there are plenty of players that have lost their pace at around the 30 mark, especially after a long injury. The list of players who have then struggled to maintain their level of performance without their pace is a very long one. I get the feeling if we were to somehow sign he'd expect to start every game, like VDV was but I think we've moved on from offering players that, we need to have competition across the squad. Before anyone mentions it, VDV was slow but he never had pace in his game and was crucially playing well for Madrid up until he left, Villa isn't available because they've replaced him but because he's not recovered well from his injury.

Or we could just shorten our pitch by a yard, 18" off either end wouldn't be noticed. Just as long as we let Dawson know so he doesn't put the ball over the stand when he clears.
