i still think, despite being told i'm stupid, that gary hooper is a decent player who would probably join us. Not marquee, but decent imo.

A CAM and a another striker (I still think having only 2 is poor - need 3 to deal with injuries or international commitments - ACON etc).

Dries Mertens would be pretty good I think for the CAM role - Eriksen too.

Moutinho - I don't think we need to go for him anymore as I think Dembele fits his role well. It'd be difficult to balance Dembele, Sandro, Parker and then Moutinho on top.

For a striker - Llorente would be ideal if we're playing with 1 up top although it risks upsetting the cart by needing to then rotate 3 top strikers. The argument can be made to go for a younger striker who would more easily accept squad rotation.

thats all you would do with £50m?

He'd keep the rest as a bung <laugh>

I seem to remember the last time I suggested a player no one had heard of him and it turned out he's on loan so we can't sign him. I'll stick with the obvious ones we're being linked to and say any one of Willian, Moutinho, Eriksen, Dzagoev, Isco and Sneijder will do me fine :) I don't think Sneijder is realistic though and the rest don't seem to have much value in them for the prices being touted. Considering there's little value to be had in January anyway I'd be happy if we got some kind of quality cover for Dembele and nothing else, we have youngsters coming through in most positions and I don't see the benefit in keeping them here is they're not going to get chances.

who's Gary Hooper?

A striker who plays for Celtic. Started at our youth academy too apparently.

He seems a good signing to me, I'm just not sure Celtic will let him go whilst they're still in the Champions League and what if Kane does well on loan at Norwich, do we not give him a look in next season?

Couldn't you just carry on the January Transfer Window thread?

Similarly you started a new thread after the last match that could have carried on on the match thread instead.

Absolutely - in the same way I think Rose might feature more next season (and Townsend and Carroll).

But right now - let's say Adebayor goes to ACON, and then Defoe gets injured straight after. What do we do for strikers then? Recalling Kane is all well and good (don't even know if we can) but he's not ready to lead the line on his own.

I'd be happy with a 6 month loan deal for a striker - just someone else who can fill in if the worst happens.

Bale Ade Lennon
Dembele Moutinho Sandro
Bae Vertonghen Kaboul Walker

Just one player, I think. The rest can go in the Stadium pot.

What happens to Defoe and Parker? 2 players who'd get into the first XI of a lot of PL sides I reckon.

It's a 'nice' problem to have lots of good players but constant rotation wouldn't help matters.

The transfer thread is, hopefully, informed speculation and information this thread is pure speculation. It's maybe good to separate the two.

Zaha £10m ...fantastic prospect and already delivering week in week out ... cover on either wing

Cicharito £15m (excuse spelling) ... apparently he is frustrated at his lack of matches at united

Snieder £10m ... top top player

leighton Baines £15m ... very under rated

They can be alternated as part of a stronger bench.
