He goes with good wishes from me. Did really well for the club and while I'd have liked him to stay, its a good move to one of the big guns. Always gave 100% on the pitch and scored plenty of goals for us. Of cours eit would have been nice to not have the constant speculation but that is not all down to him.

Good business on our part. Got a player in for free, paid him a sensible wage, and now rake in 5m from his sale (I think he pockets the rest?). I just hope they have a signing lined up to move pretty quickly. Of course all potential sellers know we need one now!

All just part and parcel of football, I hope it goes well for him. Onto the next one.

Not sure we got him for free, though
we would of still had to pay his agents something for brokering the deal when he signed for us
I think this was mentioned by Pardew and the Motley Crew all the time
when everybody was asking what happened to the Andy Carroll money

so if the speculation is correct, we paid the agents £2million for signing Ba, (according to Ashley's lot)
Ba now gets £2million from this £7 million deal, his agents seemed to have negoiated a deal for themselves of between £2-£3 million
only leaves about £3million net from the overall deal, not good in my opinion for a 15-20 goal striker

The first time anything was said of the clause, it was 10mill of which Ba gets 2.5 as a 'loyalty' bonus.

This seems to have been forgotten along the way.

Bear in mind Pards has never said what the clause is, just that its there

£3 million is pure profit. If we'd bought him for £15m and sold him for £18m, would that be ok ?

We picked up a bit of damaged goods for free. I'm sure we could have tied him up to a normal contract, but the powers that be decided that they'd rather have a contract with whatever clauses they inserted and also the clause that Ba inserted - - I don't think for a moment that there wasn't a trade off made.

As it happened, of course, that bit of damaged goods was a diamond, but you can't tell that at the time. His knee could have given out on his second game. As it is, we made a trading profit and got 29 goals out of him, while paying wages far below what a 25 goal a year striker generally gets. Fantastic bit of business, lovely bloke: I wish it coudl continue for ever but MA would rather keep his money than the player.

Best of luck Ba.

People forget he was a complete gamble when we signed him for free ( agents fees aside). There were many fans who were very disgruntled at his signing due his lack of goals for his first couple of games and the fact that we had 35mil to spend to replace Carroll and 'only' brought in Ba in 2 transfer windows.

Also,it's not a pure money driven move, he is going to the current champions of Europe and a team with a very good chance of winning the league. I'd rather he went to Chelsea than say, Liverpool or QPR. Good luck to him and about time we can get on with building our squad.

Obviously just for the cash He aint gonna be starting Instead of Torres.....Benitez be gone otherwise lol unless he wants to pair him with Torres??

Have to be honest and say I'm not in the slightest bit concerned that Ba is leaving. He's been a very good servant to the club, his goals tally this season is great too but that's partly down to his new "shoot on sight" policy.

I've got complete faith in Cisse to find the back of the on a more regular basis then Ba has once he's restored to his preferred position. Huge game tonight and I'm supremely confident we'll get 3 points and that after the game it could very well be a case of "Demba Who?".

Having said that we still need another forward player and Remy seems to fit the bill perfectly as he's accustomed to the wide position in a front three.

Papisse Demba Cisse, of course

I'm disappointed to lose Ba, but it's not the end of the world, look at the pluses, he scored goals whilst he was here, he's made his move a the start of the transfer window, enabling us to replace him, and very importantly we don't have a player in our squad who would rather be else where, that can have a damaging effect on team spirit.
Let's hope we come through this transfer window with a stronger and improved squad. <ok>

Completely agree with this - although a bit less certain about the 'supremely confident we'll get 3 points' bit (but truly hope Sir Bobby that your confidence is rewarded!)
