The drafting has been collecting interesting Tuttomercatoweb.com rumors about the future of Davide Astori. The 1987 class Cagliari Central may soon leave Sardinia: in Italy the main forcing of Naples. The azzurri have offered 7.5 million euros to the rossoblù, but over the next few days will reach a counteroffer from Southampton: 10 million cash for it in January. The auction started, Astori assesses its future.

Come on NC get that bid agreed!

As solid as Jose and Yoshida have been recently, there is no way either of them would/should be preferred over Astori, he is immense.

I've never heard anything about any of the foreigners you are mentioning but i will take your word that they will make our team much stronger should we sign them. Although you all raved about Gaston and up untill the olympics i had never heard anything about him and tbh i've not been that impressed with what i've seen. I will trust your judgement but personally i think i would perfer someone with prem experience as a cb transfer target rather than a £10 million pound gamble!!

Are you RLGB brother? :p

SK Gaston was superb yesterday. Were you watching the same game?

I was at the game and yes i agree he had a good game he's had a few good games for us this season but he's never made me go wow we got a bargain there. IMO he's not been in our 5 best players this season.

Also should we be spending 13 odd million on a player we don't think is sutible to play every game?

Sorry i thought i raised a valid point. We need to remeber we're in a relgation battle we can't afford to be spending the majority of our transfer budget on a player untested in the premier league. Well thats my opinion anyway, look how long it took yoshi to settle down we really don't have time to start from scratch again

jeez mate. This is the most talented player we have had (ability wise) we have had since a certain, slightly overweight no.7

Really? Not from what i've seen him do in a saints shirt. Maybe on paper yes, i don't doubt he's world class but if he got injured for the rest of the season i for one don't think it would harm our survival chances to much. I agree he's a good signing but maybe would of made more sense if we were an established mid table team

Problem is that the January window is not one in which you can usually bring in established PL players (if they are actually any good).

Are you still talking about Ramirez? He's hardly untested in the Premier League now is he? Most teams he has played against would give their eye teeth to have a player of his quality. And if you're talking about Astori, the rumoured fee is around the 10 million euro mark, nothing like £13 million. To get a Premier League standard CB, which everyone agrees we need, is going to cost around £5 - 8 million, so Astori fits that bill at least.

Pay more attention to him, watch his movement and everything he brings to the game. Unless, of course, you're the type of person who thinks a player has crap movement if they're not always sprinting.
