I can't believe the number of posters who admit Gerrard is cumbersome and can't find a pass to a team mate ,but who want NP to sign him permanently.Surely we can think more positive and search for a better option otherwise I can see problems arising next season.
I would personally have Hobbs over Gerrard but agree that if we looked elsewhere we could probably get better for similar money. I liked Gerrard at the beginning of the season but has really slacked in the last few games when they meant nothing and they should be trying to impress the fans. Clearly showed he isn't interested and he seemed rather happy on twitter to be back at Cardiff yesterday !!
Hobbs is quality and will cost you around 750K-1M i would imagine. Hobbs is best when he knows he is going to be in the team. When he had him on loan he was good but when we signed him he came into his own. Sven has said today that Jack Hobbs is still in his plans but that can change depending on how many of our loan players we can sign. I still expect Hobbs to sign for you. Nigel knows how to get the best out of him.
Our local rag is quoting ã750k for him today, but are saying it's dependant on Sven securing his own targets first.
He has returned to us now but i think he will sign for you but maybe not until halfway of July. We will sign some centre halfs and i think Hobbs will move on. And i reckon he wont be the only player moving to Hull from us
Only problem with that is NP may have bought his Central Defenders by then. He likes to get into the market early.
I suspect we've already got an offer in for Gerrard(which is probably dependant on Cardiff not going up) and also for Ayala, with Shackell possibly a back up option.
I hope we dont sign 2 or more of those names OLM, Id like to see Chester at CB next season with either Ayala, Hobbs or Gerrard next to him. we always will need a backup but you can bet that if we sign 2 new CB's Chester will be on the bench... such a shame really as he's probably a better player than most of them.
Nigel will make sure in the market he gets the right player and if that means waiting he will do it. He proved that with us when we went into the season with 2 strikers and we signed 3 strikers after the season had started
So, by that do you think Hobbs won't happen?? Maybe the Ayala deal will be the first to happen given there are not parent club issues pending other than agreeing a fee with Liverpool.
This may be true, but what you are not taking into account is that NP has 3 CB targets the are "The Right Player" (Ayala, Gerrard and Hobbs) and we only need 2 of them.
I think it is fair to say we all agree that we have some potentially good options coming into the club. Personally i think that NP is going for the old managers adage of two playter for each position, he has admited we are thin in places, with that in mind i think we will look at a defence of: Manonne or Guzan/Enihoff Dudgeon/Dawson Chester/??? (Shackell/Irwin??) Ayala/Hobbs Roseinor/??? (possible loan who can cover CB) My guess is that we will pay around a total of ã2m for Ayala, Hobbs and Dudgeon, Almost half of this from the sale of Macca and kilbane. The sale of Bullard, Oli and possibly Koren and Mclean will fund midfield and Forward transfers
Not McLean. Bullard - will we get a fee for him??? Oli - Maybe ã1m at most, if we're very lucky. Koren - ã1m, if that's really what we turned down in January
No, I do think Hobbs will happen, I was just listing the other options I think we're looking at. I actually think Ayala and Hobbs are the two we're most likely to sign.
Who else? I don't think there is anybody else who we would want and who you would want to sell to us. For example I would bite your hand off for Andy King, but it would never happen.
I haven't seen much of Waghorn, but I know he cost ã3 million and Leicester fans rate him. But if Sven signs Yakubu as expected and some others I guess he is a possibility. It's good to have a transfer window to look forward to.
