Cheers to everyone from southern Iraq. Toasting you all with a can of non alcoholic 'Efes' Turkish lager. Still it's got to be better then 'Fosters' eh?
Here's to a great new year and getting out of league two. We are really going to need to be on our game at Roots Hall and MA will need to address the recent run. COYG!!!! I'll be glued to Gills Live and 'clickety click'..................

On football rumours site (unreliable I know ) is a new rumour from Norwich that we are signing Chris Martin on loan. He's just ended a loan at swindon. That is also where I saw that Wimbledon want keds

I think you will find that the Leon Legge deal is a loan initially, purely so he can play v Southend.
He will be signed permanently shortly after.

Brentford fans seem to rate him very highly on their "griffinpark" fans forum, even though he's leaving them.

I too am wondering if we are definitely getting David Wright back. I would have thought if we were, it would have been announced already like the Legge deal. Unless of course any deal for Wright would be tied in with Jack Payne leaving (or not leaving).

I agree SirKeefy and not sure whether I said it on here but certainly did on twitter, why do we need both Legge and Wright? If this did happen, then surely it does not bode well for the younger members of the team yet again.

But Legge is a centre half and Wright is a defensive mid-fielder. Legge will be the new Gary Richards and Wright is a cross between Montrose and Payne, and neither of those two have been that impressive this season. Both have up and down games, whilst Wright, when he was here before, was a steady consistent player. I can't however see him popping up with the odd goal or two as Montrose and Payne do, so I would think one of those two (Payne probably) will move on, and the other will play now and again.

Uwe Rossler says Legge is moving for regular first team football. So it looks as if he has been promised a place in what was the best back four in the league. So who makes way? Davies probably, which means that for the second time running when he has been man of the match he will be dropped. Madness. There is a good argument to use a youngster like Davies sparingly but not like this. Maybe Frampton does not matter now but he will be mightily peed off to slip down the pecking order. None of this does a thing for team spirit and it unsettles the foundation of the team, the defence, which has not declined in performance in recent weeks. Looks like yet another attempt by Allen to try and pluck defeat from the jaws of victory.

The one thing I am thinking we may do is put Davies in the holding midfield position which MA wanted to do at the start of the season, I could see that happening so we will have to see what happens.

Near enough my point - although bristol407 has covered my concerns. I could accept Essam losing his place to Davies, that was more or less the sweetener to the supporters if you like but by Legge coming in I cannot see him replacing Barrett, so it will be Davies. How does Essam feel about that!

As for Wright IF he comes in, well we know how that affects Payne, just waiting for the next chapter.

    Jesus.
Our manager brings in a div1 standard CB to bolster the team, and you draw that conclusion bristol?
Did you have a bad New Years party or something?

The undisputed success story this season has been the form and stability of the back four. They have not been responsible for the dip in form. So what happens? We sign a central defender, nothing wrong with that in itself but the guy is coming here with a promise of first team football. How will the others feel. we have seen several examples of the club pissing off key players in recent weeks (notably Kedwell and Jackman) and unsurprisingly form has plummeted. If it is not broke do not try and fix it, the number 1 rule of football best illustrated by the last 18 months at Blackburn.
If Legge follows the usual trend with loanees he will have a great couple of games followed by a steady decline. i will be pleased to be wrong.

Leon Legge has signed a two and half year deal.

    Luke Cawdell ‏@KentOnlineGills
Allen confirmed today that Leon Legge has signed a 2 1/2 year deal with #Gills. He looked a real solid centre back. Great debut.

Be interesting to know how much we paid for him. Of course it will be undisclosed!! Martin Allen is very clever where transfers are concerned. He got Weston and Barrett for free even though they had a year left of their contracts!

Because leon legge still had till 2014 to run his contract at Brentford, i'd say we will have a fee to pay on him.

have just seen that Coventry city have signed striker Leon Clarke from Charlton, could this be the end of the road for CODY MCDONALD as he wasn't even on the bench today...maybe we do stand a chance :emoticon-0110-tongu

still think wright will end up with us...think they have an injury or two at palace at the moment...it will come good though <ok>

I am happy Vincelot has gone back as he was not as good as I thought he would be, he did not seem to want to play for us.
