Sounds about right, SC. Redknapp likes to have people around him that he knows he can depend upon. Why change something if it's not broken? Hooper seems to be attracting quite a lot of interest. Hard to judge anything from SPL performances at the moment, though. Wonder what he'd cost?
We didn't let him go as such, he felt his position had been made untenable by certain areas of his job being allocated to Tim Sherwood. He walked because he thought he was going to be pushed and since then has initiated legal action against the club citing constructive dismissal. The changes also affected the club's main academy scout who also left for the same reason as Broomfield and is also taking the same legal action, although he is now working for Charlton Athletic.
So not mutual consent, then! Was he actually replaced SC or were the various parts of his job just doled out to other people? Seems like a strange decision, but then we let the Chatty Man's dad go, so I can't say that I'm surprised.
brilliant Tim Sherwood taken charge of some of those important decisions that effect the club. he wasnt even a very good player
Neither were Ferguson, Wenger or Mourinho. Villas-Boas was never even a player. Not comparing them directly, but I don't think that the best players necessarily make good coaches. Sherwood did win the Premier League, though.
I know that, wasn't saying he should only get the job if he is a good player. If that was the case Hoddle and Gazza would be the best managers. What I am saying is, I don't think he can take the responsibilities of sourcing playing talent on a global level from somebody who has proven they can. I suppose my point on the player was if he was a Klinsmann he has probably built up a strong trusted network that would be willing to do half the job for him.
Fair point, but scouting doesn't seem to be something that many big name ex-players go into, for some reason. Arsenal's chief scout is Steve Rowley. Who?
Don't worry, his "promotion" didn't last very long and although he does continue to have Levy's ear, his main role still remains overseeing the under 21's and next gen groups. Meanwhile, Broomfield's position remains unfilled and the scouting network stumbles along.
I get what you mean. Not a great example though. The gooners have hardly discovered many talents and have had more misses than hits recently. Don't worry I know that wasn't really what you were saying
I just Sherwood looks like a weasel. We need a complete overhaul of our youth system, the gap between our prospects and first team in the main is too huge. Whilst Arnesen was a complete d@#k, Levy's idea was right, really invest in heavyweight people to make it happen.

Talking about Hoddle and Gazza,I was watching a Fox programme about Spurs.Their former team mate was shown.Chris Waddle. It's a long time ago now but they reported that Chris had signed to stay with Spurs for the rest of his first class career.Unfortunately, our geniuses at the club got us in so much of a mess we had to sell him to Marseilles for (?) 6 million to help get us out of that mess. Touch of the Glasgow Rangers....very nearly.Who was the twit who got us in that mess?
Pretty much nicked off Harry Hotspur so I didn't make a thread about it but what do we reckon the note AVB passed Ade after his goal read? please log in to view this image I'm going for: “Dear Carl Cort, Great goal, keep it up!” Not only did AVB pick up Sir Bobby’s wealth of football knowledge but also his casual racism.
Where's "Kicker Conspiracy" by The Fall or "Give Him A Ball (And A Yard Of Grass)" by Sultans of Ping F.C.? No taste.
