following from Romsey_Saint's thread, now we are at the half way point (kind off) how would you rate each players performances over the season. Who is the stand out player of our half season in the prem and who do we think will be vital in second half of the year.

    player list (spelling mistakes included)

    davis - 6
    Gazzaniga - 5
    Boruc - 4

Shows why many want a new keeper

Clyne - 8 Been one off our stand out players, pretty consistent too
    Richardson - 6
Fonte - 7 Shaky start but all CB have got much better
    Hooiveld - 5
    Yoshida - 6
    Fox - 5
    Shaw - 8

    Puncheon - 8
De Ridder -10 Made things happen this year
    Lallana - 9 been quality
    Cork - 8
    Schneiderlin - 8
    Davis - 6
Reeves - Been good when he has featured but hard to say
Ramirez - 7 deserves higher but going on the fact he has all the ability we know he can do more
    Guly - 6

Lambert - 8 Top scorer involved with most things
Rodriguez - 6 Slow start but getting better
Mayuka - 5 Just havent seen enough
Lee - N/A Expected a breakthrough but obviously hasnt showed much in training

Probably missed people out, but that was done of the top of my head!

Pretty much agree with all of this. If we want to play decimals, I'd drop Fox to 4.5, Lallana up to 7.5 and Rodriguez up to 6.5

Gazza - 4 - Showed some flashes but overall too many mistakes.
Davis - 4 - Age catching up with him a touch I fear, just seems sluggish physically and mentally.
Boruc - 5 - Didn't do terribly but did make a couple of errors in his short tenure.

Clyne - 8 - Up there as our best of the season so far for me. Quick as well all knew beforehand, but also has shown as the season has gone on that he can read the game well and he has made some great challenges. Also contributed going forwards and has formed a very good partnership with Puncheon. An unlucky slip against United and let Bale get up too easily for his goal, the only real blotches on his record for me, although he did struggle against Everton and away to Fulham.
Richardson - 8 - Small sample size, but done very well whenever he's been called upon and unlucky to have suffered with injury.
Yoshida - 7 - Rating only as a centreback, he looked very unsure to begin with but has grown into his partnership with Fonte with increased protection in front and to his left.
Fonte - 8 - Was unsure if he had what it takes early but has come on leaps and bounds and been a rock of late. Could do with being rid of his habit of trying to punch the ball in the box, though.
Hooiveld - 4 - Feel for Jos as I like him, but excluding decent games against West Ham and Stoke he has been a bit of a calamity.
Fox - 4 - Partly system, partly player, but like Jos he was a bit of a liability before Shaw came in.
Shaw - 8 - Been very solid, looks like he's been playing in the league for years and his contribution as a 17 year old has been remarkable.

Puncheon - 8 - I've mentioned it numerous times before but he blows hot and cold, can either be a big difference maker and win games, or almost be a hindrance to the team. That being said he has frequently been fantastic and a huge plus for us this season.
Guly - 7 - Thought he was decent if unspectacular when he played earlier in the season and very good against Stoke.
Schneiderlin - 8 - Big time player for me, machine defensively, inhumanly fit, and even popped up going forwards. Has gone missing a bit in a few games, however.
Cork - 8 - Not the most technically gifted of our players but always 100% effort and adds a stability to our team with his calm play contributing at both ends.
Davis - 7 - Bit disappointing as I think he's a very good player, was good but not great before Cork's return then had an iffy game, Cork comes in, and he hasn't had much of a look-in since. Still think he did pretty well however, but Cork's defensive steel and bulldog mentality is what we really need right now.
JWP - 7 - Dropped in the deep end and handled himself very well, like Davis can count himself unlucky not to have played more but has shown he has what it takes and hopefully can be big for us in the future.
Lallana - 8 - Consistently vibrant and direct going forwards, always looking to make things happen and when it's come off he's been fantastic and he brings the attack together more than anyone else for me. Also his defensive work has come on big time after a few early season lapses.
Ramirez - 7 - Shown clearly his talent and potential but a lot of the time tries to do too much when he just needs to keep it simple and let his class do the talking, some fantastic moments and performances but also some frustrating ones and he hasn't found his shooting boots quite as yet despite a few close attempts.

Lambert - 8 - At times struggled to score but a lot of that is down to service and not his own fault, and despite that has still scored eight and done fantastic. His build-up play his too frequently overlooked and has done brilliantly in his role of starting moves as well as finishing them.
Rodriguez - 6 - If I rated him purely from his time as his striker he'd probably get a 7, but when outwide he was ineffective which is a shame as he should really be able to fill that role for us when needed. Shown some flashes of his talent but not quite enough, struggling a touch for confidence which is never good for a striker.
Mayuka - 5 - Not seen as much as I'd like of him as I know the guy has heaps of talent, but despite a few good substitute performances, when called upon he was sub-par. Still think he can be a great weapon for us once he fits into the team and we learn how to use him best.

    Davis- 6
    Gazzaniga- 5 Clearly not ready.
Boruc- 5(?) Unimpressive in brief time, but could well be much better. Need to see more to judge.

Clyne- 7 No complaints. Been solid and looks like he has room to improve.
Richardson- 6.5 Been decent when healthy.
Yoshida- 6 Solidified defense, looks to be improving.
Fonte- 6 Below avg. but not terrible Premier League defender and that is all he will ever be. Would be a great reserve player, too bad he is starting.
Hooieveld- 5 Have to say he's been pretty bad. I think he can do better and perhaps Stoke was a start but performance thus far has not been nearly good enough and was properly dropped from starting XI.
Fox- 5 Think he takes too much criticism for the long balls, but his defense has been bad. Again, I think he can improve a little but no reason not to play Shaw who is already better and can improve much more.
Shaw- 6.5 Still prone to the occasional rookie mistake, which holds down his rating for now. He's going to be good.

Puncheon - 6.5 Right player in the right role for now, but things could change considerably. Full credit for improving attitude, pitch awareness, and effort. Still not sold on him yet, but deserves the chance to prove me wrong.
Guly- 6.5 Has been decent every time he's played, but hasn't played that much.
Schneiderlin- 7 At least an average Premier league defensive midfielder.
Cork-7 Has been solid. I don't like the Schneiderlin/Cork pairing and would want a more physical DM/CM back there but that's not a slight on either midfielder here, they just aren't that type of player.
Davis- 6.5 I think he's been good. He played the tough games while Cork was out so while I can't rate him as highly based on performance I think they are pretty close.
JWP- 6 Needs to get stronger and work on tackling, but that will come with time. He looked good when he played.
Lallana- 7 One of two players I feel could contribute to just about any time in the league.
Ramirez- 6.5 Has actually had to play at times more like a MC than an attacking MC and doesn't get enough credit for being willing to do it. Still, he needs to get sharper. You can see the skills are there.

Lambert- 7.5 A complete forward, does whatever we need him to do.
Rodriguez- 6 Has looked much better recently though. I think he will be better 2nd half of the season if Saints can find a place for him.
Mayuka- NA Not had enough time to judge.

K.Davis - 5 (A bit too dodgy for my liking)
Gazzaniga - 6 (looked quality on some occasions and dodgy on others)
Boruc - 5 (Didn't impress me much on the couple of games)

Clyne - 8 (Excellent defensively and has a good partnership with Puncheon on the right)
Richardson - 6 (Solid on the few occasions)
Fonte - 7 (Our best centre back this season IMO, far better than I thought he'd be)
Yoshida - 6 (Decent centre back but I still don't feel too confident when he's playing)
Hooiveld - 5 (Worse than I expected, I thought he'd find the step up fine)
Fox - 5 (Same with Hooiveld, looks a bit out of his depth the season)
Shaw - 8 (Excellent start, very solid defensively and solved our left back problems)

Puncheon - 8 (I didn't really want him at the club at the start of the season and now he's been one of our best players)
Guly - 6 (Usual Guly, frustrating but also had a couple of good spells)
Cork - 8 (I thought he'd be good but didn't expect him to be as outstanding as he has been)
Schneiderlin - 7 (He's been solid and has a good partnership with Cork now)
S.Davis - 6 (I quite like him and has had good and bad games. I don't think he's as good as Cork or Schneiderlin though)
Ward-Prowse - 6 (Looked decent at the start but faded out the team now and looks 4th choice now)
Lallana - 9 (Our best player and led by example with the captains armband)
Ramirez - 7 (Has spells of class but still only spells at the moment and needs to be a little more consistent)

Lambert - 8 (Very classy and the focal point of our team. No defence has found a way of dealing with him yet)
Rodriguez - 6 (Bright runs and I do like him but hasn't got the goals yet)
Mayuka - 6 (A couple of good cameos but hasn't had a real chance yet)

    Just a quick one:

Davis- 6 - Age showing, still pretty good but not good enough
Gazzaniga- 6 - Same as above
Boruc- 5 - Nothing great, would like to see him play more

Clyne- 8 - Very solid, good going forward and back, great tackler, got high hopes for this one
    Richardson- 6.5 - Solid performances
Yoshida- 7 - Shakey at first but improving greatly. Looking to be a brilliant buy imo
Fonte- 7.5 - Again, shakey but has improved loads, looking very very good with yoshie
Hooieveld- 5 - Poor at start of the season, looked good against stoke though, would like to see him make some sub appearances to see if he has what it takes
Fox- 4 - Nothing great, i like fox but just no...
Shaw- 7.5 - Very impressed, wasn't expecting him to feature all that much but he is looking brilliant

Puncheon - 8 - Always liked punch, think he has proved the haters wrong, played brilliantly at times but has been a headless chicken at others
Guly- 7 - Same ad punch
Schneiderlin- 7 - Looked all round solid, coming forward more than i expected but has got some goals to show he can do that too
Cork- 8 - Since he has come into the team he has arguably been our best player for all matches, fantastic performances
Davis- 6 - Looked pretty good, would like some more play time to judge
JWP- 6.5 - same as above
Lallana- 7 - Adam Lallana is Adam Lallana, simply brilliant
Ramirez- 7 - Has definitly showed his potential, produced some great distance shots, skill and passes, but tries to be a bit too clever at times

Lambert- 7.5 - Same as Lallana, hasn't seen much of the ball in some games but has always done great when he has it
Rodriguez- 6.5 - Hard worker, like cork, would be a 7 but him being played out of position has dropped it. I didn't rate him when we bought him but i do now
Mayuka- 5 - Not his day against sunderland, but he has what it takes and some. just needs to adjust and get more play time

Seems mostly fair, though I think Lallana and Lambert deserve 8.

Pretty much agree with this St Bendy - maybe an 8 for Lambert due to the number of goals he has scored.

Agree, Lallana has been mostly excellent. He's improved the defensive side of his game enormously.

I'd probably give Clyne an 8 too. He's made a couple of errors but looked solid apart from that and has been one of our best attacking threats as well.
