Not sure why you direct this post at me- I've made no comment on how well/badly it's written.
My point is that local people who back other clubs are ****s -as I'm sure you'll agree.
I don't ever expect anyone to agree with me. But everyone can have an opinion, but mines right. That's all there is to it.
Just wondering on people who are Hull City glory supporters? Those that sprung out of the woodwork when we went up. Presumably they'll come back if we go up again. Whether they'll support the opposition but sit in the home seats as has been suggested in the past is debatable.
Hull City don't have glory supporters.
Two seasons in the top flight is not even on the radar for these people.
Don't forget we got over 20K in League 2. It's a myth peddled by other teams that we suddenly acquired 'all this support'.

agro, i totally agree with your 2nd para but was just opposing your view that every opinion is a valid and constructive one. just gets a bit nit picky sometimes.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. I really don't see how anyone could be considered a glory supporter of the Tigers. Either you're a supporter, or you ain't.
I've always supported City, they're my hometown club and I see no reason to support anybody else.
I look out for a few other teams results; Ferriby because my brother used to play for them and Lincoln, Walsall, York, Northampton, St. Mirren and Worcester City because my friends from my uni days supported them.
Internationally it's a bit different, my family are of Faroese origin so I tend to support them, but I do enjoy watching England play. I've been to Torshavn a few times to watch the Faroes too. The 2-1 win over Austria was one of my fondest football memories.

It's the plastic fans who have kept Hull City in the lower leagues for decades, by supporting glory teams. I personally can't understand the incentive, and I certainly have virtually no footballing respect for them.
I called them twats on another thread as I was getting my face rubbed in it by Hull Whites when City where going through administration in the 80s, and almost out of existence in the 90s. I stand by that comment. I really have no time for them. They aren't proper football supporters.
I understand that children will pick a glory team when they are 5 or 6, but most grow out of it by the time they are old enough to watch football regularly. Some just stay as children in footballing terms though I guess.

You're right - if you're from Hull, you should support City - hence all the fans spread over the world who post on here.
I've a mate - a Londoner - in Hull, who supports Spurs. Fair enough. But his son - born and raised in Hull - does so also. Is that right?
Yeah supporting your dads/family team is fine imo. Football is mainly tribal, so that's perfectly acceptable. He might change as he grows up but you can't knock him for that.
I was born in Hull, as was my dad, who took me to games, therefore I support Hull.
My brother, was born in York, and also was taken to Hull, and in fact some York games (me too), but supports Liverpool. He's a ****.
Having traveled a lot, I tend to associate certain teams with old mates, so whilst I don't actually follow any other teams, I watch out for quite a few, and they remind me of those old mates.
2 more pals - one born in Udders (so they're his main team) lived in Hull for years, supported City; now in Southsea, so supports Pompey.
The other, born in Medway towns, supports Gillingham, despite his dad - who was a Manc/Man U supporter. My mate lived in Hull and always looks at City's result = "best of the rest"!
Whenever I meet someone who supports a 'glory team' that has no link to their own life I always throw this very same argument back at them. I say "So I take it you support Brazil when they play against England then?" It's always met by a look as if Im mental and they dont quite get my point.
On the subject of supporting a winning team, I genuinley dont get it. It must be ****e to be a Man Utd fan and I genuinley mean that. If they dont win the league as a very minimum then it's been a failed season. How can that be fun? The league is a minimum requirement and a good season is the CL win. You can keep your glory team...
And another point on a similar subject, I have NEVER understood why attendances will suddenley go up if we get promoted back to the Premier League. Who exactly are these 'floating fans' supporting - do they go to watch City or the opposition? It's the same with 'big games' in the league - are you going to watch City or the other team? We should get exactly the same fans for a home game against Posh or TWS.
BCC, it's the same wherever you are. Southampton sells out every game, but in the CCC they closed the corner sections
it might be that some football watchers watch players rather than teams, like tennis players, for instance. pre-1960 the only way to see a game was live. if a mega-famous player was appearing in or near your town, you'd go see them. bobby charlton talks about that frequently in his autobiography.
incidentally, my mentality when i watched city was the same as yours - i went to watch city. the opposition was totally irrelevant to me.
I know someone who if you spoke to him now would insist he is City through and through and always has been, has a season ticket for the east stand and you will see him at every home game and regualr away days but wind back even in the days of the KC and he went to Hillsborough every other Saturday. Every single time I see him at City I say "Why arent you at Wednesday today?"
