It's not a question of moral high ground it's the fact that JB asked WBA to name their fee for Wood they said 500,000 so he said ok then they upped it and he said ok again then they upped it yet again and again he said ok now its 1.5 mil - if they had thought he was worth that money a month or so ago they should have said so, so that JB knew where he stood, instead of all this poncing about. I don't spose the WBA chairman would be too pleased if it was happening to him
**** em Grumps if we miss out but the real shame is that Woods genuinely want's to play for us but it's all the behind the scenes bollocks from his paymasters that will **** it up for him & us Nice that the club have learned from the Punch situation to agree a price in advance but then the ****ers jack up the price so we can't ****ing win!
Yeh but they have the option to renew for another year - so really he's got 18 months left unfortunately
Oh ok didn't know that so thanks mate As he's under 23 it can go to the transfer tribunal panel to set a transfer price for the agreed compensation?
Since when did we get anything in our favour from the tribunal - if we're selling young talent we get jack **** for them - if we're buying it's normally double what we've offered
No I just meant in general for fees that can't be agreed for young players as I'm sure it's for under 23's but I could be wrong? I think that came about because of Bosman but again I could be wrong?
I thought that it was for players under 18 but I could be wrong on that - its f****** hard to keep upto date with all these rules and regulations just have to hope for the best come January - only got a couple of weeks left to find out - do you know when his loan runs out, is he here for the Bristol game?
See that WBA have sais that they may not sell Woods in January now - just trying to bump the price up yet again imo -cnts
And what woud you want us to do were the tables turned? Yep, you would want what I would want and any sensible supporter would want - the most dosh possible for the player. And if that means playing the old haggling game and pretending to walk away whilst still looking for a deal then so be it. In fact I still hope that's just what JB is doing. I'm not happy that we probably won't get the bloke but this old pony about being held to ransom is just a feeble cover for the honest truth that we don't attract the gates to pay the market rate for Wood. As for whether 1.5 is ricidulous - well it's only ridiculous if nobody stumps up the money.
If you could be bothered to look at many other posts I've made, you will see that I am always moaning about our gates so that is not an issue here. Secondly I've never said 1.5 mil is ridiculous for Woods, I think he's worth more. My whole point, which you dont seem able to grasp is that JB has tried to stike a deal with WBA on their terms, and each time he agrees to those terms they change them. Why not just tell JB that Wood will cost 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 or whatever from the outset, instead of all this "well lets see how many goals he scores and who's interested before we make up our mind". As I said in a previous post if he had only score 4 or 5 goals in 18 bet your life WBA would have bitten our hand off for 500,000
If he had only score 4 or 5 goals in 18 bet your life WBA would have bitten our hand off for 500,000 Exactly Grumps, couldn't agree more
We have just agreed to let Jermaine Beckford stay at Huddersfield on loan for the rest of the season and the rumour is we have agreed a deal with WBA for Chris Wood for 1.75M
