Does anyone else have horses they (hate is a strong word) don't like for no real reason? A few i can think of are - Hurricane Fly. I did back peddlers cross when he was second to the aforementioned, and in his early years he always seemed to be handled with kid gloves so maybe that's why. but the horse is obviously exceptional, but i've never taken to him. Grand grus. I always been a Bobs worth fan, so maybe it was when Grand grus annihilating him last Christmas that i subconsciously decided not to like him. Zarkandar - Again, no reason, never backed him, but for some reason just don't like the horse. Which is bizarre because i usually love the battling kind of horse like this. So i was wondering, is it just me? or are there others out there?
How about this for horse hatred? The person certainly has a way with words. http://theoatmeal.com/story/eat_horses
Bizarrelly hawkeye i agree with all three. I would also cause huge controversey by adding kauto star to that bunch. I obviousley agree he is an amazing horse but i Never liked him. Prob cos Im a biased Denman fab. Another ive Never taken to riverside theatre. I have no idea why!!
Well you will closing the thread after i tell you i didnt care one iota for Frankel,no idea why as i appreciated his brilliance.
This is easy, Arkle. A great great horse, but one person made me hate him, and the very mention of his name. New Approach and Canford Cliffs for the place money................
Jeez, George, you're a hard man, the poor horse had a ticker problem... (What the hell am I doing up at this hour? Back to bed... please log in to view this image ).
I wouldn't go as far as hate, but I'm another who cannot stand Kauto Star. I always hated the way Denman was always forced to play 2nd fiddle to KS, despite the fact he proved his superiority over KS on the track. Whilst Denman was thrown into the Hennessy off top weight year in year out, KS was always protected by the yard and given the easier level weights option. After all, we all remember the day KS was well beaten in the melling chase conceding a few pounds to an average plodder like monets garden. Paul Nicholls quickly realised KSs capabilities and never asked him to conceded weight again. Denman instead of running in the Betfair Chase, a race he would of destroyed KS in, just like he did in the Gold Cup every year, was thrown in the Hennessy conceding lumps of weight, and being the great horse that he was, he ran with credit, even prevailing on occasions. Whilst KS the apple of Paul Nicholls eye was being hailed a great, for winning the betfair Chase, the easy level weights option. I also hated the way the racing journalists portrayed KSs career, after he won the 09 Gold Cup, there were all claiming, that this was the real KS, and that he hadn't shown up the year before when he was comprhensively spanked by Denaman. The 09 victory had nothing to do with the real KS showing up or not. The reason KS won that race is because Denman was out for most of the season following his heart condition. Had a fully fit Denman shown up KS would have never regained the Gold Cup, because Denaman would have bossed things from the front again, and put KSs jumping and stamina under pressure again. Yet these facts were never mentioned by the racing media, the RP never said a word about Denman having gone through what he did in 09, yet the RP made all sorts of excuses for KS after he was tonked in 08. Either way lets all believe the myth, that KS is the greatest national hunt horse of our generation. Let's all ignore the fact that his stablemate Denman leads 3-1 on head to heads, and even has valid excuses, like a serious heart condition for his 1 defeat. Everyone knows deep down that Denman always had KSs measure throughout his career, so KS can't possibly be the best since Arkle as he's not even the best of his generation Harsh but true
