Pre season testing i think, before they settled on the customer Ford V8's.

Yeah. Senna was very complimentary about the lambo, but was too big and thirsty compared to the Ford V8 so McLaren went with that.

You do wonder if they had persevered with the the lambo V12, whether the extra grunt may have made the difference between McLaren and the Williams bearing in mind how close it was with the Ford. I guess the extra weight and size of the V12 may have upset the handling too much, so the V8 was the better compromise.

Not aware of any official testing times being released for the lambo though.
