The first game was probably the dullest, but the 2nd was lacking in goals - when there should have been at least one!!

That's what a proper manager does when he has an injury crisis mate. Gets the team set up properly and grinds out a result.
They are not so far adrift that they couldn't survive, but I don't think they have the quality.
He obviously thinks Adkins isn't capable of this if that's the first thing he thought.
