Heavy ground tomorrow... Flemenstar has run on Irish heavy once and lost. Do you think Casey was just bringing him on a little with that debut bumper run or do you think it was problems handling conditions?
That bumper run was nothing more than getting a run into him. The ground will be no problem, three wins on what they describe as Soft to Heavy.
Gold cup winner runs tomorrow, SIR DES CHAMPS and I expect him to pass this test with flying colours. I can`t see Willie sending him there not fit enough to win and his class will tell. You might of guessed I am on ante post for the Gold Cup and have been straight after his win at Cheltenham last season.
I wouldn't dismiss SDC that quickly STH. We don't know his fitness level and he was still miles clear of Rubi Light who's an acceptable marker. Flemenstar highly impressive though and will be very competitive in whichever race they target next and at Cheltenham. Currently, my pecking order for CGC is Bobs Worth, First Lieutenant (who'll benefit from different tactics), Flemenstar and SDC.
Fully agree with you Bostonbob about First Lieutenant, very very good horse and will massively benefit from alternative tactics than displayed in the Hennessy. Been trying to rack my brains though for a horse that will run in the CGC that will properly pull the field along.......
