Well it's a different Spurs way this season. Last season we played well and didn't take our chances. Now under AVB we play like a pub team and keep scoring goals.
To be fair I think many of us had our doubts over the last two seasons. Now he plays like a man possessed and showing the skills we all remember. And long may it continue.
We win and qualify but ffs we made hard work of it. 2 wins and 4 draws makes us unbeaten but I'm not convinced that we are as effective as we should be. We must play better than this. We must do better for Sunday or we'll lose.
we better not **** about like we have tonight in the knock out stages,or we'll be the ones knocked out
We are 4th and into the knockout stages of europa league...no ekotto, no parker and no Kaboul all season... adebayor injured and suspended for a sizeable chunk ... he'd now back and the other 3 are all close to returning... 4 wins on the trot ... I'm gonna be half glass full man today
Thanks Colin,I was about to post that I don't know how we're going to improve but you've just answered it.
Can we buy a left-back and a couple of back-up strikers, please? Naughton looked comfortable in his proper position against Fulham and I wouldn't mind him deputising for Walker, but he's poor on the left and he costs us virtually every time when he's played there. As has already been mentioned though, we've seen another poor performance in Europe from the ref. Some of his decisions were just blatantly wrong.
We've been linked to a under21 left back in France. - Massadio Haïdara. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth in that one. We need back up for Benny and verts has had to play there far too often. Naughts has tried, but he's like a different player when he's in that position. Just awful unfortunately. Same reinforcements for me as I've mentioned previously. Another creative mid with some real intelligence and flair to get the crowd behind the team, and a striker. I want to see sigurdsson given some more time in the next few games. He's battling away to get in and I thought he did ok when he came on tonight. Looked like he wanted to impress as much as poss. Again, another poor display from Dempsey IMO - caught in possession too often, passing the ball straight to the opposition (or out of play bizarrely) and not making his decisions quick enough. Fortunately for him (and probably his starting place) this was masked by the assist and "his" goal. Nothing blatantly outrageous from the ref, but loads of little decisions that should have gone our way. The standard has been poor in the EL, like you say PNP.
Like me AVB says it unfair that C/L teams dropping out of the C/L are allowed into the E/L.he says it's like rewarding failure, for teams finishing 3rd
Good result last night, decent performance for most parts. Thought Lennon and Dempsey (yeah that's right, I did say Dempsey ) were brilliant and joint MOTM for me. Was probably the poorest game we've seen from young Tommy Carroll though, he misplaced many, many passes and got caught in possession a few teams but that'll be a learning curve for him, Panathinaikos were very quick to close us down, so hopefully he'll learn how to use his time on the ball a little better. Great seeing Ade back on the scoresheet, that'll do his confidence good after the stupid sending off vs Arsenal, hopefully we can go 4-4-2 vs Everton, it looked good last night, was good vs Maribor and was good for the first 10-15 mins vs Arsenal prior to the sending off.
He's spot on too. It's unfair to reward failure, UEFA do their best to say the Europa is a great competition and it would be if they didn't belittle it by allowing other teams a second chance at silverware after failing to progress in the Champions League.
