Afternoon chaps, The days most interesting runner is in the first at Wincanton. Coole River debuts for Lavelle after a long, long break. Previously a very competitive grade 2 hurdler in Ireland, this horse has beaten Quelesprit, Lucky William and Pittoni to name just three. He'll have to produce a high 120 performance to win which is easily within it's grasp if fit. A very interesting race is in store. I think it could turn into a bit of a procession. Forecast 10/1. After a string of near misses the Jeremy Scott stable is back amongst the winners and he sends 3 very interesting runners to Wincanton tomorrow. In the 1.10 Pericoloso has done all his best work to date on soft or heavy going, winning over hurdles over 19F and 21F. Whilst his chase debut was hardly inspiring (beaten 79 lengths 4th), that was a Class 3 affair on Gd/Soft over 3 miles. Coming back in trip on rain softened ground tomorrow, there is every chance he could spring a major surprise. In the 2.40 Quaddick Lake has to shoulder the 7lbs penalty but I think he is another one who will appreciate the slower conditions and he can follow up his win on soft last time out. In the 3.10, Ballinahow Star looks to have a favourites chance having just been touched off on hurdling debut in a decent looking contest at Exeter. This doesn't look anywhere near as tough and she should take all the beating here. Those 3 in a Lucky 15 with Gallop's tip
2.10 Winc - FRONTIER DANCER @ 11/4 Career low mark and runs well fresh, has won twice now after returning from breaks over 140 days & will love the soft ground. Good luck all! A couple more to add that appeared on my tracker this morning. 12.55 Ling - THE NOBLE ORD @ 5/1 Was put on a mark of 74 after winning his maiden & struggled. Has dropped to a low of 63 & that looks favourable to mount a serious challenge. 2.25 Ling - SULIS MINERVA @ 14/1 Was a comfortable 3L winner at Kempton in May off 80, now running off 85 and looked in need of the run last time out. Gask also uses Da Silva very sparingly to land handicaps. They have a 16% strike rate and a level profit of +43.56.
They've been running okay without winning. I don't rate her as a trainer though so my idea of them running okay probably isn't the same as yours.
That does look a good bet given its form on the ground cf to the others. I would put the top weight in for the forecast.
I'm not in love with her either, I just have a very good friend with a horse in the yard that allows me a little info from time to time. I think her string is almost without exception running below expectations this season. When they hit a purple patch you will see marked improvement from just about every horse that has run so far. 0 wins from 9 runners in the last two weeks is hardly inspiring is it.
it's either good news, or bad news, that i have all of the above in my selections for thursday. yesterday i picked half my horses with careful studying, then went to the pub and then came back and picked the rest. the second lot did noticeably miles better than the first carefully picked ones i think that says stop over concentrating on it. great day's racing tomorrow (if it's all on) gearing up to saturday g'luck tomorrow all.
Jack The Pirate (IRE) 2:15 Clonmel Showed some promise bumpers/hurdles but still a maiden after 11 starts before promising debut over fences at Wexford. Lost quite a bit of ground at the start but jumped his way into contention before weakening in the straight in 2m1f beginners event won by Big Generator. Free-running sort that's probably best around 2m & looks well capable of a modest beginners chase or handicap success Not my words lifted from irishracing.com should be a good EW price the Father in Law is hanging in there not awake yet still critical but stable, thanks for all the kind thoughts and wishes stay frosty my friends
Morning all, Danbo, thoughts are still with you all. Tough times. I have done the Gallop/Gal/Stick 2.10/2.20 double and I will be backing a few through the day. The key thing is not giving yesterdays plunder back to the bookmaker.
Morning, troops. Hope everyone well. Nothing for me today and therefore the old ‘no bet’ banner is doing its thing. ‘Pricewise’ has been brave this morn though and put up Sizing Europe to win the ‘King George VI’ on St Stephen’s Day so expect a bit of a punt on this one today, people. Although surely anyone who bets against Mr Henderson in this heat needs sectioning, don’t they?!? Meanwhile, totally off topic but did anyone see the US version of ‘The Inbetweeners’ which debuted on E4 last night?!? My ‘mole in the media’ had already told me it was Dire with a capital ‘D’ and had been axed across ‘the pond’ after just a single series following bad reviews and poor audience figures. Although I didn’t think it totally terrible it was certainly a poor imitation of the UK version as the characters and language was watered down many levels. The plots and character names were the same as over here and they had promoted the role of Carly to become that of the fifth main character (a plus) but made Mr Gilbert and the parents much duller (a big minus) but it has to overall go down as one of those things which just hasn’t travelled well.
Leicester just been called OFF as well. That cruel mistress, Mother Nature, is certainly disrupting the old racing calendar at the moment.
