Lived in Tickton until aged 8 before moving to HK for a few years. Older school days were at Pock Grammar.

At a very early age I think my Grandad was landlord of Five Ways but don't really remember it

Scar and me have had this chat before. My Dad went to Lens for his back and sides from about 50years. He used to do the shoe repairs for Freddy Broggs. Daft Eric had the biggest smile that I can ever recall. My Mam still goes to the Methodist hall for keep fit.
My Auntie used to work in Elsie's and I used to get my Matchox cars from there.

Born Beverley Road. Mum and Dads shops were opposite The Strand. Moved to East Hull and went to Greatfield Newton Hall. Spent hours in East Park on pitch behind the ballroom. Crown, Pelican, Crooked Billet, Blue Heaven -so many memories. Skyline, Beer Keller, Locarno and Club51. Then grew. Up.

I certainly do, we were in fear of him, he reminded me from a character from " off the buses".
It was a brill park in them days, with a Tuck Shop that sold Icepops and Daintey Chews, Black Jacks and the like.
It also had opening and closing hours.

Drurys Cakes are as important memory for me as Patties are. Going down the side of the shop, to the bakery, to purchase " buttered" fresh cakes (that had a shelf life of 24 hrs, then went rock hard).
    Delicious.

Used to go to Boys Brigade at the Methodist Church, rough as **** ( brilliant).
    I'll need reminding about Elsie.
My Dad's shop used to do a Xmas Club, on Endyke. ( our Roy and Shirley used to live above the shop).I'll be amazed if a few of you don't know Roy, been a loyal City fan all his life, and took me and ourkid all over.

Do you remember, " old man Ellis", was never behind the counter when you entered the shop, but would materialise like Mr Benn within seconds.
And he only had about 5 of anything.
    Priceless.
