Oh come on they sacked a club legend for dropping Torres who had won them their first CL win. You can't blame them for feeling disgruntled.

Is seeing Benitez managing Chelsea a bit like seeing your ex missus in a boozer with another blokes tongue down her throat??

Re Benitez I understand your mob loving him.. But surely Chelsea love RDM for the same reasons.

I can understand them being unhappy at Di Matteo being fired - I agree it was a sham.

But booing your new manager before his team has even kicked the ball is pretty pathetic if you ask me.

I think most would agree too. Shameful behaviour.

You may love Rafa for his exploits in Athens, and the hope he gave you in the league...the league you still haven't won in its current guise.

The rest of us watched him systematically **** your club up, employing all of his own team behind the scenes and trying to make himself untouchable, always believing he was the one. He never was, and your club still bears the scars of his reign, along with those from Hicks and Gillet.

He also said a few choice things about this club and its fans a few years ago that he perhaps shouldn't have.

He also couldn't do anything with a team set up to win, such as Inter. Granted Mourhino left them shaped to his needs, but then that surely goes to demonstrate Rafas ineptitude compared to a truly great manager, and one who wins wherever he goes.

RDM may not have been setting the world alight, but in a season of transition with a ****ing useless striker, I bet he'd have done as well as the fat waiter.
 
It's an odd appointment! Can't see how his style can be matched to Abra's vision. Torres is too far gone now to come back (imo)- can only end in tears- just like it started.

Rafa didn't make the scars, H&G did.

I was going to say 'in the nicest possible way' but there is no way for it to be put nicely. People who think Rafa is responsible in any way for the damage H&G were doing is a complete fecking idiot. He suffered with us.

If Fergie suddenly became your manager tomorrow, would you boo that appointment or welcome him with hypocritical open arms??

Benitiez is in big trouble now because he will get no grace if results don't change dramatically from here on in. Going to be an unconfortable couple of months I think.

This piece was written before the match yesterday and having seen how Benitez was 'welcomed' as well as the approach that his team adopted in his first match in charge, it is hard to see him ever being accepted at the Bridge. Nonetheless, given his history of deploying 4-2-3-1 at both Valencia and Liverpool, I'd expect him to continue with RDM's system, albeit with a more defensive mentality.
 
I cannot believe you have fans wanting him out before a ball has been kicked. He is only in charge until the end of the season and will be replaced very quickly unless results have been outstanding. His track record with a mediocre Liverpool squad was pretty impressive.

at least give the guy a chance.

We'll find that out over the coming months and see just how true it is.....or isn't. The good news is that when we get to Wembley this season there won't be any problem getting tickets.

Indeed. Someone else had the same idea and so their piece got posted yesterday because their piece related to Benitez's team selection for his first match. My work commitments last week didn't provide much opportunity to write it any sooner unfortunately.
 
Never get how people can say they will boycott their own club because of an appointment. I can't get to many Liverpool games but no matter who is in charge, if I get a chance I will be straight there. Maybe you should appreciate it a bit more
