I couldnt go today. Who cares? We are 2nd with so many playere missing through injury. Lets see how the rest cope. Great result - thats all that matters!
They dominated us and will be disappointed to get nothing out of that game but to our credit we were well organised and defended well. Havn't seen as bad a set of linesmen and ref in a long time.
It doesn't matter if we only have one on target so long as it goes in, and they do!!! they can have 20 on but if they don't go in who cares? Why do you think winning 1 - 0 is an escape???? Sounds very negative to me,
Best game of the season by a mile, especially for a neutral (if you could find one in that crowd). Also the noisiest I've heard the CCS in a long time. Worried about Turner, that didn't look good to me. Taylor struggled for a while before he came off, but Nugent and Ralls did everything asked of them after some early nerves, and both grew into the game the longer it went on. Whitts was a second captain today - played like his life depended on it. Still think we're a bit lightweight up front, but the skill levels of Kimbo, Noone and Bellers are great options to have available. Overall, a game we could have so easily lost at home and one we probably would have last year. Middlesbro only themselves to blame - loads of chances but today was our day. The refereeing was appalling. Mason was definitely pulled back in the area - it was a nailed on penalty. Next week's team selection for Barnsley will be very interesting.
Good to see BEllamy back and Mutch will have a run out with the development squad in the week. Nuggent sounds as if he stepped up to the plate today and fair play to Ralls, who seemed to ride his luck but let no one down. I hope our lack of defensive cover doesn't come back to haunt us.
good win, we were under pressure but we were always going to be with a makeshift defence.....good to see nugent make his debut and ralls come in and do a job at LB. today was more about the points than the performance,
I always put a Bluebirds win in the prediction league but I was very worried about today I thought that M'boro would be the hardest team to beat at home. Nice to see Nugent & Ralls doing enough but we can't rely on them too much. Brilliant atmosphere today let’s see over 22K in the next home game.
Can't understand any negativity today. Yes we rode our luck at times, but considering we seemed to be playing the Samoan rugby team and the completely biased officials, I think those who managed to endure the physical onslaught in the second half were tremendous. Limited options due to injuries forced major changes in tactics. Proud to be part of that crowd today. Definitely spured the boys on.
yea, you cant expect us to dominate every team at home, besides, i agree the officials werent the best (did mason dive or did he warrant a pen? my view wasnt good enough to know.......
Well said that man Worse than than ref against Bolton and that is saying something !!!! Fantastic atmosphere and i believe the injustices we seemed to be getting actually woke the crowd up, The forced changes and 2 youngsters coming on and everybody got right behind the team i didnt hear any moaning about the team (the ref took the stick instead). For number 10 we have a certain Mr Jones coming to the CCS
Looking at the table, I wonder what Messers Chopra and Bothroyd think of their decisions to leave the CCS? DJ must be envious of the riches afforded MM as well. I'm sure he'll get a warm welcome.
Massive win guys. I have not seen any highlights yet so can't comment on anything. It's becoming a scary place for visiting teams now and who knows, maybe you can go the whole season not losing at home
I've seen some boro fans saying that they deserved to win. But did they really? I can only remember marshall making 1 save all match and coupled with the officials being poor...i thought 1-0 was fair. Especially considering at one point we played the match with a different back four to the ones we started with and played with 10 men for a while. Overall i think we would have played better if we weren't forced to move the players around every 20 minutes.
Thought mbro missed a few chances but also that we were as likely to get a second on the break or via a set piece as they were an equaliser. Thought it was a great game to watch even if not ,perhaps, from a purist point of view. They were very physical and the ref let it happen. Mason dived and I don't know why? He was 6 yards from goal!
I didn't think Mason dived at the time, and now I've seen the incident on Player, I still dont. He was tight on the byline and was arm-tugged by the defender - a penalty all day long. Being 6 yards out is irrelevent - he was in line with the goal posts.
On the football league show coverage it looked a dive. There was a tiny bit of contact but he went down very easily and that's why I think the ref didn't give it. Mason certainly exaggerated the contact by going down. I was going ballistic in the stand but I was miles away. At the time I couldn't believe the ref had got it wrong when he had such a brilliant view. Having seen the replay I don't think the ref did get it wrong.
If the ref didn't give a foul (in other words a penalty for being in the box), he should have booked Mason for diving - you can't have it both ways. There was illegal contact that impeded Mason in his progress towards goal. A penalty. Going down easily and making the most of it is hardly uncommon in the game. No probs with your opinion though Stevo.
Sometimes it's neither, not an outright dive but not a pen either. I think mason felt the first contact and went down thinking bikey was starting to pull him whereas he'd actually already stopped. A booking would have been harsh but a better decision than a pen IMO You've seen those given, but I would have been tamping if we'd had it given against us. Ditto on the opinion difference, if we all agreed on everything this would be a very boring place.
