So here is my dilemma.
The game is about money, credibility and respect. With that you can get good players, managers and support. If you finish in the top four in the England you get a shed load of cash from the Premiership and then the Champions League, plus you get respect and credibility. If you finish in fifth you still get cash not quite as much plus you still have some respect and credibility. If you win the FA cup, similar to finishing fifth of sixth.
So what have we done. Build a team that is starting to gain respect and attract some good players. Then we sack our manager employ a guy who has had a character by- pass and whose technical nous is muddled. Sell our best players, start to watch the team stumble around playing dull uninspired football, with a lot of signs pointing to a mid table finish and no trophies.
And here is my dilemma. How are we going to improve. The manager isn’t going to get people wanting to play for him, his style is a turn off. There will be less money to spend and Levy won’t be writing blank cheques, and who wants to play for a team that will not be in Europe, unlikely to be challenging for the top four or the league. Except for some marginal talent and mercenary has beens. The value of Spurs has been seriously damaged
There is only one person responsible for this mess and that’s Levy. This is one fantastic cock up. And to continue the fowl theme, the golden goose has been killed, plucked and served.
 
We sacked Harry because he was being an idiot,England and contract hardball. Plus an article like this has come up to show disgruntlement at AVB after 4 months in the job.

I bet you was not wanting Harry out after our dismal performances after February in which he blew a 10 point gap and had us playing in relegation form? This after building the side he wanted for over 3 years?

I'm not Harry bashing, but trying to point out that it seems like AVB will never win some people over because quite simply, it's AVB and unless he wins every match he is buggered.
 
I didn't think AVB was the right choice after sacking Harry. My point being that Levy had a great opportunity to move on from the mess that was Harry instead we are mired with AVB and I don't think any clear direction. Other than the Man U game when we managed to hang on it has been a pretty uninspired beginning of the season and I don't think it will get much better. I hope it does but I am a not optimistic. I don't blame AVB I don't think he has it. But he was given the job by Levy and if it goes pear shaped then Levy must surely take the blame.
 
Far too early for that, I can't think of a single side that hasn't gone through a bad spell at one point or another in a season, even winners.

It's baffling me that you have no patience and can't see the obvious handicap we have of having the likes of Kaboul, Parker,dembele,Bae and now bloody Ade missing from our starting 11. AVB also missed out on the players he wanted in order to implement his tactics further.

Plus he's shown signs of learning from his errors by going 442 today away to Arsenal...

By blaming Levy for getting the wrong man in is just another way of saying its AVB's fault for not doing as well as you think we should be.

I'd blame Levy for not getting in Willian and Moutinhio like AVB wanted but not for appointing him.
 
True. And whilst we are not QPR or Southampton I think it is true to say we have aspirations of finishing in the top half of the table preferably top 4. But 4 losses in 5, two by 5 goals, there are chinks in the armour. My view is that AVB won't get us where we want to be. I know they won't sack him this early maybe not at all. If they keep him until the end of the season I think we will be worse off than last. If we fire him in January will it be too late. Either way I think Levy made a mistake in employing AVB.
 
I am not sure Parker gets back in the team. BAE blows hot and cold for me, Dembele I would agree with and Kaboul, well we have Dawson Gallas, Vertongen and Caulker that should be enough cover. As for patience I have that, but when Levy appointed AVB I and I am sure a lot of others didn't say 'wow here is someone who can really move us on' I wanted us to move on from the position we were from last year and I don't see that.

Give AVB a chance! He needs minimum 2 seasons before we should even think about changing him. This is why in our recent history we have won f all of note as we change things all the time. AVB is a young manager who I still believe will come good. As Dona has said we are missing half our first team for christ's sake. Any manager would struggle under these circumstances. even when today he plays the team the majority of Spurs fans wanted he still gets pelters because of one players stupidity completely out of his control. Lets hope we can have a good fa cup run or Europa league run. I would happily take 6/7 in the league and win one of those trophies. It has been far too long since we have won anything of note.
 
Don't blame AVB for selling our best players. Modric was always going to leave. Selling VdV was probably not his decision. Our best players are still there. Bale Sandro and Kaboul.

After today I have become a supporter of AVB for the conviction he showed in his team and for selecting a team to attack.

Even at the end he was there clapping his players and urging them on. If you'd like to compare to Harry as you seem to want to. He would have been sitting on his chair with his arms folded and a long face.

I have no time for fans who are looking for AVB to foul up at every possible turn, just because they have some silly misplaced loyalty to Redknapp who always considered himself first.

TRY to have a little patience and give the man time to do a good job for the club we love. WHY would you wish to help in a downfall to satisfy your own ego.

No I don't blame AVB .
I blame our midget tyrant uncle Daniel.
He has shown little loyalty to his managers by providing cut price versions of the players he sells. . No doubt all the
summer buys were more his choice than AVB.
 
Once again ENIC's buying policy comes under the microscope, and it's not a pretty picture.

I so wish they would sell up and we could bring in owners who will back their club like Chelsea and City. Okay, that's too much to dream of realistically, but even owners wishing to stump up an extra 20 million a year would surely help, even if it's just to pay the extra and get the players in we need before the season starts.
 
So as it is now more difficult to attack AVB you turn your attention to Levy.

Some fans will never be happy, they have just had too many disappointments perhaps.
 
I don't it find any harder to criticize AVB than ever before but I do try to be objective at times.
I have no understanding that he has suddenly seen the light and is a stylish , progressive manager.
Today we were thrashed and we are mid table, those sadly are the facts.

The mistake that Levy made was not sacking Redknapp on the first day that he showed interest in the England job once Capello had departed. At that stage he had plenty of options, AVB, Anchelotti, Bilic, Clarke even Capello himself. By waiting Spurs fell apart and blew the CL place. Had he appointed AVB or even a n other in February, the 'new manager' thing generally inspires the players to give that little bit extra and we would have probably got the CL spot and probably managed to sign the likes of Willan or Moutinio in the closed season.

I don't think there was anything wrong with sacking Arry or appointing AVB, the problem was Levy's timing.
 
This article smacks of short termism. A couple of poor results - well one really - Wigan. We are not yet at the stage of beating Arse and Man City when we want to. I am keeping a track of points from like for like games and at the moment we had 20 points - 3 more from the equivalent games last year - the difference the Wigan result.

Keep faith - a new manager will always need time.
